quilting in Indianapolis ?

I'm moving back to Indianapolis this summer.
I wasn't a quilter the first time I lived there.
Please tell me about quilt shops and quilters in Indianapolis!

Thanks,
Kay Ahr in Reno/Sparks Nevada USA (for just a little while longer)

If you like reproduction fabrics check out www.quiltsplus.com. They
are in Indianapolis. I have enjoyed their booth at national shows and
mail order from them regularly. They just had a sale of 25 fat
quarters for $25! Don't see that very often anymore. There are several
other shops listed in Quilter's Travel Companion for central Indiana
but I am not sure the distance between towns. Do you remember what
winter is like in Indiana? Still want to move? Susan

Oooh, I'll only be about 15 minutes from Quilts Plus! I think I know about
where it is located. I'll be visiting in Indy for a few days this month.
I'll have to make a point of stopping there.

Oh yes, I remember those winters! I lived for over 50 years in Cincinnati,
Indianapolis, and Washington DC suburbs. I particularly remember a 4-block
walk to my office with a minus temperature even before the wind chill was
factored in. But now I'm retired and won't have to go anywhere when it's
like that. If my rental application is accepted, my apartment will be a
building away from the fitness room and from the mailboxes. Works for me!
I can sit in my sewing room and knit and quilt and crochet and cross-stitch
and nap.

Now how do you know about those winters? :-)

Thanks,
Kay

I expect to be living on the other side of town again. It's gets crazy
during the Indianapolis 500! Homeowners sell space on their front lawns for
parking! I just enjoy the TV version in the background while I'm sewing!

Because I have lived in the mid-west all my life. My husband is
originally from Southern California. He came to Chicago in 1965 for
graduate school never intending to stay. He is not a happy person
January through late March but he loves his job so keeps shoveling the
snow. Your retirement plan sounds great. Not quite there ourselves but
I doubt we will be in the snow belt. Susan

Wow, Southern California to Chicago -- culture shock!

And I thought I'd never move back to the Midwest or East Coast. Then I had
this little "almost heart attack" in January which contributed to an earlier
retirement than I had originally planned -- wanted to be there at least 2
more years. When I was airport-hopping to the Midwest in April, I had
trouble traveling. I began to realize that there could come a time in the
not-so-far-away future when I would not be able to travel back at all. So
I'm moving back!

Kay
