Back as 'barnyowl'!

I finally gave up on the quick route (for me) to access rctq and am back as
'barnyowl' formerly jennellh or Jennifer in Ottawa.
I apologize for the error that I made when I posted news of Polly's latest
baby quilt .... working blind on message posting didn't allow for editing so
thank you, Taria!

Polly already knows this piece of news: I gave in to temptation during the
May long weekend and bought a new sewing machine - over the phone! The deal
on a new Husqvarna Diamond Deluxe with multiple freebies (read toys) was
just too much and the idea of a new bathroom flew out the window. I do
still have my Pfaff 2144 which is set up in the sewing room (too hot for
comfort to use that room during the summer months) and I also have my
brother 1500.

I have been happily relearning the software for embroideries, etc. and have
used my baby bib blanks to try out new versions of several designs...I think
that I am up to 24 now? I have also finished making a chemo-hug quilt for
my US cousin who was diagnosed with lung cancer recently......I have it
ready for shipping now. The Diamond has so many quilting stitches to choose
from but I decided on one of serpentines using a diagonal set across the
whole quilt.....to speed up the process of finishing.

I am still behind in making baby quilts for the newer members of my family -
one top is done (then dancing frogs - picture is on webshots) but I still
have to work on 3 more for this year's baby crop. I was sidetracked with
knitting during the winter months and tennis tournaments and only managed to
sew 4 baby books and a selection of baby burp pads. I did also decide that
all of my fabric stash should be photographed individually for inclusion in
my fablib files ...but that was only the beginning of another start on
reorganizing the sewing room......fat quarters still have to photographed
and uploaded to fablib and then all of the files have to be sorted into
folders.

The cats are all fine and currently are addicted to 'carrot tops'!

I like your name. Congrats on the new machine! Mom always used to say
we spent too much time staring in the bathroom mirror anyway. Better
to be sewing!

Congrats on the new machine! I love my Viking Platinum. Certainly
don't use it to it's potential but love the way it just hums along!

And to be just a little OT here - we'll be back in Gatineau in a
couple of weeks. Maybe we can try a meet up again this year
(especially if it's a rainy weekend).

Ah me. Wouldn't we love to see Jennifer's new Diamond Deluxe with Jennifer
showing what all she can do? Wowzer! Polly

I'm enjoying the differences with the new machine and still have some quirks
to work on. I hope that your Gatineau weekend has better weather for flying
this year - the area is very pretty to view either from land or sky. Jen

It truly is a beautiful area. Not sure if it was a no-no or not but
flying over the city of Ottawa was fabulous. And the rivers are
magnificent. The local family there that helps us are so loving and
generous to us and we are so grateful to them. And we LOVE Cora's for
breakfast. Doesn't get much better than that!

Good to see you back, Jennifer. I like the new 'handle' and super congratulations on the new machine! Can't wait to see some photos of your creations with your new sewing partner.

Wow!
I looked up the machine on the 'net. Do they really cost in the realm
of $10,000????
No wonder the bathroom plans went out the window!

Enjoy,
Hugs
