Finish two start one

Hi all,
I have made a pledge to finish two projects to start one. My progress so
far is a little Christmas ornament with an angel bear says I've been beary
good. and the mad bluebird. I stitched quite a bit at work the other day
on the mad bluebird and the ornie is my purse project. For those of you who
don't know, I am a dealer at a casino in Michigan and I get a 20 minute
break every hour. So I should get way more done than I do. lol I am a
habitual starter though, so I have to try to be good. For my next project I
am going to start is a flower from the newest Paula Vaughan From Paula's
Garden. The charts are very readable. I was pleasantly surprised, so this
is probably the first color chart I have worked from, but like I said the
chart is very large and readable. Also from what I can tell there isn't any
partial stitches for the colors to get lost behind backstitching. The flower
I am doing is the purple one, can't remember the name off the top of my
head. Is for a friend, purple is her favorite color and she is one of those
people who will do anything she can for you. Am planning on getting it done
for Christmas. So I gotta stitch away at the bluebird.

I like you idea. I decided to make this year the year of the UFO's. I've done
pretty good. Got 4 quilt tops done and a few cross stitch projects done. I
have 8 more cross stitch to do and I'll be caught up. I can not start one
untill 4 are done. I have started them years ago and since I now enjoy
evenweave better, I am having to force myself to finish the old ones. They are
to far along to give them away.

something like:

I don't have lots of UFOs since I'm a "one project at a time" person,
but I am making an effort to stitch some gifts and things that I
haven't been looking forward to. And you know, once I get going on
them they're pretty fun! I guess I just convinced myself I wasn't
going to like them and was dreading starting them but they're not so
bad.

My goals currently are to get some of my FOs and UFOs finished and
framed/mounted. Last month I actually framed up a little "Laundry Room"
thing that I'd done as a quickie project to feel like I'd finished
something. Once I pay the Visa off for that I'm going to frame the
Millennium Sampler, which has been rolled up in a mailer tube since I
finished it over a year ago.

After that I guess I'll have to start digging into the UFO pile. It's all
FlyLady's fault, she's got me clearing things out.

You're a FLYlady too! There is a nice Yahoo group called FLYstitchers
that's mostly stitchers and quilters (and I know there's a
FLYquilter's group too). Do a Yahoo search and join us! Paula B.

I like the way Paula you describe yourself as a "one project at a time
person". I am a Multy projects at a time person. , as i knit in one
piece , works come to the stage that they are too big to carry on the
bus, thaus i finnish them at home , and start "another one for the
road " . I make several with various techniques, one on the loom [ 200
kg heavy Not portable] , several embroidered , some small presents.
which i usually make in groups ,,,,the going one now are cloth bags ,
and some cushion covers , which i sew on the machine , some will be
crazy quilted [ wonderful to use all those pieces left over from other
projects] and i am working on planning a pillowgahn for my daughter .
I am in the habit though to have one day a month , which i call
Finnishing day ,, where i catch a project and WORK on finnishing it.
it works ....thus at least once a month i finnish more than one ,
have fun making !!! mirjam

start the Vermillion Stitchery raccoon Christmas ornament for my
younger daughter (13 yo) who collects raccoons. Of course I can only
work on it while she's in school. And I have another gift for someone
else going for when she's around. Paula B.

I just am not as eclectic as you, either. I'm a "one-technique" person
now, too! I've tried several other things (crochet, surface
embroidery, etc.) and just like counted thread so much I really don't
care to dabble in other things much at all. I do need to get more
adept with my sewing machine, though. To each his/her own! I do love
hearing from and about people who do many different techniques, though
- your perspective is not the same as mine.
