OT Making you smarter by
Polly Esther[_5_]
I am going to type this real slow so those of you who are not so bright will
be able to grasp it. Making just a few tiny garments for expected
great-grandbaby son, the serger was needed to make a dainty rolled hem edge.
To do that, you Must remove the left needle. Unthreading said left-hand...

OT welcome sweet spring time by
Polly Esther[_5_]
Yesterday we had flash floods with tornado warnings. Today, ta-dah! the
robins arrived. Not 'our' robins - they always travel on to the north.
They always come by in January after a hard rain. We think the wet pasture
and orchard are better for finding unsuspecting tasty worms and such. So....

Baby Quilt for Cash born 14 Jan. 2012 by
Sharon
This is the finished baby quilt for my niece's little boy Cash - he
was born on my husband's birthday - 14 Jan. 2012 - at 8 lbs. 6 oz. -
just a little doll. If anyone cares to see it, it's over at RCTNP
photos. These were the colours my niece chose - red, yellow and
grey.

'Nother Dr day by
Butterfly-Wings
and I have a Valentine Red cast for the next 4 weeks. Seems like that lil
fracture at the base of the nail on the R big toe is healing very
slowly....but it's healing.
And to think I took Das Boot, that already has hearts all o'er it with me,
to the appt just hoping. Course the cast is lighter...

How to transfer appliqué design to dark fabric by
Trish Brown
I've done this a million times on light fabric, but suddenly I want to
mark some dark forest green fabric with a complicated (celtic knot-like)
appliqué design. The fabric's too dark to see through it on a light box
and the design area is quite large (about A3 size). I thought this would
be...

OT -- new printer by
Mary
My printer died recently, and even my friend the computer geek said it
was beyond repair, so after hearing about new printer issues on the
newsgroup I was dreading getting a new one. Well, it had to be done,
so I went out to Best Buy and picked up an HP Photosmart, which is
sold to be wireless...

Another UFO bites the dust. by
Rose in CA[_3_]
I started this one in 2006. I bought a couple of yards of the fabric
in the center because it was a map of Upstate NY and the Adirondack
Mountains. I gave a half yard to each of my 2 DDs, DSis, DM and DSIL.
The challenge was that we would all make something special and report
back the next summer....

OT - on the death of my beloved mother by
Ursula Schrader
I would like to thank all of you who sent their sympathy to me and my family
on the death of my mother. I cannot say how much I miss her already. Tears
do well up occasionally but I can't mourn properly yet. I guess it will be a
lot of sad moments with tears over the coming years, rather than a...

OT -- flavored water by
Mary
I had some house guests who arrived with a CASE of those plastic
bottles of flavored water, and when they left they didn't take what
remained, so I have almost more than half a case of that stuff --
which I do not like to drink. Neither do my neighbors. So, rather
than just keep storing it and...

Off and On Topic-Friend and storage and sewing by
Steven Cook
Off Topic part 1
Moving forward has been good the last two weeks. My friend has counseling
two days a week and feels it is good and he is comfortable with it. Has
covered many things already and has a better sense of calm. A few moments,
but okay he says. I noticed his mood is so much...

Does anyone have this machine? I was at my neighbors today helping her on
her first quilt. She has this machine, and do I ever like it. She wasn't
sure what all it can do, so I played a lot. It is the easiest machine I've
ever used for FM--I fell in love with it. I'd happily trade my new...

Sort of OT by
Mary
I also apologise for cross posting.
No apology necessary for cross-posting such an important message!
As to what to do about "sewgirls", I like the idea of putting
copyright notices on things! Then, if they continue, can we find an
attorney who is a fan of needlework who would threaten and...

Complete OT - Anne McCaffrey by
Donna in Idaho[_3_]
I know there used to be other rctq'ers that were big Anne McCaffrey
fans (she wrote the Dragonriders of Pern series as well as several
other series - all good).
I just found out that Anne passed away in November from a stroke. The
world has lost an incredible author. She was my favorite author...

slow and steady wins the race -- not OT by
Rose in CA[_3_]
Way back at the dawn of time (2004, actually) a large group of RCTQrs
had a mini round robin swap. There were 5 quilters in each group and
there were 4 USA only groups, one USA/Canada group and one
International only group -- for easy of mailing, not
discrimination :-)
Yesterday I finished mine...
