OT A New Reason to Sing in the Shower by Night Mist
I generally sing in the shower, and the kitchen, and my studio, and just about anywhere I happen to be. Well it has been a wet summer so far, and I am more than a bit allergic to mold. So my chest is full, my head is stuffed, my throat is tight, and I am in no fit state to sing nursery rhymes...

OT - Chocolate cupcake recipe? by Johanna Gibson
I was all set to make chocolate cupcakes, but my American cookbook doesn't have a recipe for them! How can this be? It has various recipes for muffins... which leads me to wonder: What is the difference between a muffin and a cupcake? Anyway, I know many of you love to bake, so can someone help...

BRICK-A-BRACK by [email protected]
This quilt is from Quick Quilts, April/May 2014 and a quick one for sure. I used left over scraps. Was not happy with the size, so made the center rectangles rows longer and wider and adjusting the sides accordingly. Did this while packing for my big move. My move is over now, I don't ever want to...

OT still sewing by Night Mist
I am planning on taking some stuff to the Christmas craft fair this year. Bunch of toys, the dolls I had a blast making, some animals that came out of my knitting frenzy. The half a bajillion jumping jacks, climbing bears, and other mechanical and pseudo mechanical wooden toys that I made a few...

The Big Move by [email protected]
I will not be posting for a while because I am moving within the city of Pocatello, Idaho, 1 of next month. Just didn't want you all to be concerned about what happened to me. Maybe we should all move every 5 years, just so we can get rid of all the junk we accumulate. Just call me...

The designwall - help please by [email protected]
Hi all, I would like to know what is the best material to use for such a wall - would a flannelette sheet be alright? I am setting up a new sewing room (which does not have my computer and and all my family history files in it - yay!) and have room for a design wall. Thanks in advance for any...

Misc. Sewing Projects/Half Square Quilt by [email protected]
I did finish the Emerald Wave chevron quilt. Been trying to use up my left overs here and there. I have three dog/cat mats started and waiting to get some thin batting for centers. I had extra blocks from the Chevron and took them apart and made hots pads which still need the binding to sew by...

Emerald Waves Quilt by [email protected]
This quilt pattern is in Quick Quilts magazine Apr/May 2014. It is named Emerald Waves. Not sure why they called it that because it is actually "V's, alternating white with different shades of greens" Maybe Brian can give us the address so you can see it. I made a sample and decided it was too...

Chopped Block Quilt by [email protected]
I am in the process of putting the inner and outer border on Chopped Block's quilt by Missouri Star Quilt company and there is a video you can watch. This is a fun quilt to make and different from anything I have done before. The one problem I had was my fault as I was trying to save time by...

Machine grease by Gosh! by Night Mist
So I was cleaning and oiling my machines today (always after the worst of the cold is past)and I tripped over the machine DD1 brought over for me to fiddle the tension on. So I dragged it out thinking it was her Morse, but in fact it was her Singer 327. I decided that before fiddling anything I...

I have done some quilt labels on Printed Treasures transfer paper that was run through my inkjet printer. The problem is that the backing will not peel off! It's making quite the mess. Any secrets to getting it off easier? Thanks. Helen

Update on Anvil Quilt by [email protected]
I just need to sew the 2 1/2 inch square rows of sashing and then sew the 4 square rows that make up the borders This has taken me longer than I thought it would. A lot of work but well worth the effort. I should finish in a couple of days. Sandy$

Anvil Chorus Quilt by [email protected]
In McCall's quilting magazine Sept./Oct. 2013 page 86 is the Anvil Chorus quilt I am in the process of making. I plan on changing the quilt a little by putting just 2 1/2 in rows sewn together as strips for sashing and a 4 patches all around the outer quilt as a border. The quilt calls for 2 1/2...

I brought home a new old sm by Sunny[_2_]
I went to my fav junk store today looking for old postcards and came home short $27 but carrying a Kenmore 117.812 (circa 1948) in its original carrying case. http://www.pbase.com/kuby/vintage_sewing_machines Obviously this isn't my photo, but it's the same model and gives you an idea of how it...

The Prairie Flower Quilt by [email protected]
Hello All, This is the quilt I am working on now. It has 4 -5 inch print squares and 4-5 inch contrasting squares. A white 5 inch square goes in the center of row two. You use 16- 2 3/4 inch white squares for snowballing(I use a pencil to mark the line on the snowball squares to opposite...

Scarlet Serenade by Helen[_2_]
I have finally gotten around to this pattern and I have done the block 3 times and every one is 10 1/4 inches. I have tried batting and without batting still the same. If I continue will all the blocks compensate and fit in the end? I have the new Bernina 16 embroidery machine and the design...

Mega Quilter grinding noise by Debbie Dempsky
I've had my Mega Quilter for about 4 years. Some days I love it. Some days I wonder what it would look like if I threw it out the second floor of my house and had it land at the bottom of the pool. Last week it suddenly started to make a horrible grinding noise. I ran it long enough for my...
