Little silly question by
Polly Esther[_5_]
WHAT am I doing? You know I stitch quilt for Newborns in Need. Lately
they've all seemed to be kind of girlie and I wanted to do a boy quilt.
Fondling through the happy gifts from a very special friend of mine who
loves to find and send baby fabric to this quest, I came upon a:
Lime...

Where to keep a roll of batting? by
Polly Esther[_5_]
Where oh where am I going to put it? I ordered a roll of batting. It
weighs 75 pounds. A really wonderful price. Do I put a nightgown and cap
on it and let it sleep in the guestroom? I've been buying my batting crib
size and that is a hefty expense. It really is.
Would it be...

Thanksgiving Day - some advice please by
DiMa
Hi to all the USA posters,
Firstly, I know that this event is held in November in the USA and my
daughter has advised my DH and I that we are going to be invited to a
Thanksgiving Day "something" in November here in Aus. by her partner's
parents.
What I would like to know, as it is our first...

New Machine, Woo Hoo! by
Sherry
I have finally taken the advice I got months ago from several here and
I
got a new (to me) machine. Remember I am the one with the Singer15-91
that's older
than me. A couple years ago I bought a Singer with decorative
stitches, etc. What a
pile of junk it was. It would not even sew through when two...

OT but sewing related by
Leslie& The Furbabies in MO.
I bought two pairs of identical slacks- but the blue ones were about 2 in.
shorter than the white ones. Of course, I only tried on the white ones
before I came home and washed both pairs.
I took out the hem and added a strip of fabric and re-stitched the hem- that
part is okay. But the...

Speaking of Facebook - NOT OT by
Cindy Schmidt
A couple of months ago some of you might remember that I posted that I had
joined a swap on Facebook and that I needed to make 144 blocks. Crazy?
Yes....especially when trying to get ready to move to another state.
Went out and bought the fabric and made all 144 blocks. Then stupid me,
made a...

OT or not OT,that is the question.... by

http://www.instructables.com/id/Braiding-eight-cords-into-a-flat-braid/step1/Start-with-4-and-double-down/
this is a how to for an 8 cord flat braid.
i reckon this could be done with flat tubes of fabric and added somewhere
clever on a quilted handbag, jacket or wallhanging maybe.
just saw it,...

Gadgets: Needle Threaders by
Sartorresartus
Well, it's prosaic, but I did say I'd try to catch up on some gadget-
trees
So here's Episode One
These are only my opinions, btw, you may have other experiences.
Needle Threaders (NAYY).
I'm long-sighted, so I can't see the holes in my needles very well,

Happy Fathers day by
Taria
to all our dad quilters around here. I don't think there are a lot of you
but happy day to you if you are one. I was lucky enough to see my dad for
a short visit. A good father is really a joy in life.

Heirloom quilt laundry by
Polly Esther[_5_]
Finally, finally there is a new baby in our family with my initial. For
about 60 years I have been saving lovely monogrammed handkerchiefs. A while
back I realized that they would make a fine quilt; Martha Pullen of Sew
Beautiful has featured several. Probably they are only good for photo-ops...

Joining border fabric by
Megwen[_4_]
Hi folks,
I am trying to put a 6" wide border on my latest quilt top. I don't have
enough fabric to cut each border in one piece. Should I join the bits with a
diagonal seam (and need much more fabric) or a straight seam, losing no
fabric? The fabric has a geometrical design on it, I'm...

Another meet-up by
Gen
We spent 2 delightful hours with Nightmist this afternoon at her home.
We're on our way to VT for my class reunion. She made madelines for
us----the first ones we ever had. They're good. Got to meet Ash---what a
nice looking young man he is. He was in a playful mood for a short time and
had...

Making Scrappy Do Dah by
She in PA[_2_]
Went and bought my fabric for the sashings fo the squares. I'm making
the sashings all the same color instead of scrappy. There were 10 of
us exchanging 6" blocks but, 2 dropped out before they really started.
I also got a walking foot for my birthday from my husband. My birthday
is past but, we...

Custom plastic templates - UK and elsewhere by
Lizzy Taylor
This is a bit of market research really, and if it becomes a business
proposition I will, of course, take it across to r.c.t.m
Often I read people say "go to your local plastic supplier and get your
template cut", except very rarely can we do that over here in the UK.
However we (DH & I) have...

Wool Batting, anyone? by
Sartorresartus
Okay, so I'm home for good (DV) and having nearly finished the replica
Welsh Wholecloth (pictures to follow) for the Quilt Museum, I needed
to get a new project started. I am getting very good at finishing
something before I get at another, but, with the Naughty Head that I
have, I mustn't have a...

Just a funny by
Polly Esther[_5_]
I was just doing a simple red strawberries on yellow blocks crib quilt.
Thought they looked like Aunt Betty Sue's tablecloth and decided the middle
block needed a smile. Appliquéd the smile. It's a great smile, her dentist
would be proud.
Discovered that the border of the quilt top had...
