material for making patterns by
Moose
Does anybody have any ideas for materials to use as patterns for
stained glass? My problem is when I go to grind my pieces, I can't get
them to stay stuck to the glass when they get wet. I've use super
sticky tape, rubber cement and any kind of marker that I have tried has
washed away as soon as...

making laminated glass tubes by
Bernhard Kuemel
Hi!
I have glass tubes filled with liquid CO2 at high pressure and need to
make it safe in case the tube explodes. Currently I put it in a
protective polycarbonate tube, but I'm worried the PC might not last
long enough. Some of the tubes might be in use for 100+ years. They are
meant to be viewed...

Source for glass cylinder? by
Bert
Can anyone suggest a source for a glass cylinder in the neighborhood
of 8" diameter by 12-18" long, with fairly heavy walls (~1/4" or
more), either quartz or soda glass? I could tolerate minor defects in
case you know of a good source for surplus, rejects, or leftovers.
(The latter are called...

Glass grinders. by
Bill Browne
I work in etched glass, not stained. But I like to work with odd shapes, so
I've considered a glass grinder, and I have a few questions.
I'm curious as to how badly the edge is chipped after its been ground. I
know the stained glass crowd puts came or foil around the edge, so it isn't
an...

FS: 3d Facial Capture Camera (digitizer) for 3d laser etching of glass by
Dan Serra
3d facial capture with high fidelity and color maps with the 3d

principle of analyzing interference patterns that are projected on the
face and captured by the camera. Since it is natural light and not a

Q: Best Glue by
Matthew Lybanon
I am making some 3-dimensional glass objects, made of stacks of stained
glass triangles. I have tried several types of glue, but after it dries
I can easily pull the triangles apart. I would like to use a glue that
is colorless and will keep these triangles stacked. Has anybody done...

Technical questions on etching and annealing by
D Brock
All:
Thanks for the comments. Just for the record --- yeah, I'm very careful
with this stuff. I actually have (back in university days) used HF acid to
do glass etching (non-artistic), was quite rightly paranoid/careful with the
stuff. It's nasty.
I'm pretty sure that the effects I'm seeing...

the best way to crush glass to make frits by
joe draper
Hi
Has anybody got a better method to crush glass to make frits? At the moment
I am putting it between canvas and whacking it with a 21/2 pound hammer but
the canvas does not last very long and I end up with bits of the cloth in
the glass. Any ideas will be well appreciated.
Thanks
Joe

Best professional soldering iron?? by
[email protected]
Can anyone suggest the BEST soldering iron on the market today?
I used to have one that came from France, I believe...and used it with
a rheostat.
I think that there are professional models available today with a built
in temp controller...
but how good are they?
It also has to be 220/240...
