Used wrong cones in kiln sitter - Help by CNB
I can't believe I did this. I fire in an electric kiln. I was rushing to get in a ^6 GLAZE firing for an upcoming event and I use an 04 cone in my kiln sitter instead of cone 6. In the morning I'm going to take all the cones out and restart it but now I don't know if I should try to fire it to...

Glaze prettier inside cups and jars by CNB
Has anyone noticed that their cups and jars, etc. look better on the inside than the outside. I find on many of mine that the colors are prettier, brighter. It seems that the glaze may be thicker. ?? I was also wondering if it would have to do with a temperature difference from the outside to...

Clay for smoked/pit fired pottery that has not been bisqued by CNB
Hi, I make smoke fired pottery and have always bisque them at a low bisque temperature but I'm looking for alternatives for people that I know do not own a kiln. I'm planning on doing some smoke-fired burnished pottery pieces and I'm wondering what I should start to look for in a clay if I am...

Different clay thickness in same firing by CNB
Are there problems with firing a kiln load with bowls that are different thicknesses? I want to fire some large bowls with some items that are smaller and thinner in between the large bowls to fill the space. I can only fit 2-3 bowls on a shelf and there is room left that could fit other...

Want to make red slip by CNB
Hi all, I would like everyone's opinion. I fire cone 6 electric. I've been using Standard Brooklyn Red clay and love the fired brick red color. Unfortunately I hate to throw with it. It's just to sandy for me. I don't see another clay with that red brick color so I think I would like to make a...

Floating Blue and pinging by CNB
I'm wondering if anyone has any idea of how I can cure this pinging. I glazed a whole load of Floating Blue and it came out beautiful! Only problem is that I heard pinging after taking the pieces out of the kiln and for a while after, which I think is not a good sign. (I took them out of kiln below...

has anyone every heard of Ousakis? by ConTactMe
I've aquired a small vase like piece that has painted on it what appears to be Grecian flower and fruit carriers, as well as a fountain of sorts, painted all in gold. On the back, it says it's "Hand Made by Ouasakis Keramik 24 K Gold", but that could mean nothing, I know. Has anyone ever heard of...

Can Anyone Identify this slipware pattern. by Craig N MacKenzie
Hi All. I've just found an old tea set - slipware apparently. I recognise it from when I was a kiddy but can't identify the style/pattern/make. Can anyone have a look and give me some advice - I'm sure it's a very obvious to those in the know. http://www.hertsweb.net/images/P1010042.JPG - 213k
