JUST FURIOUS! by
Steven Cook
And he's back. Just saw a note on Facebook. Of course no answer to the
phone call. Heaven forbid that children talk with their parents, but he's
home, we're happy, and we can now wait for the next thing to worry about.
Hopefully a lot tamer than this one.
Steven, resting...

OT fire extinguishers? by
Polly Esther[_5_]
In the dozen years since we've been in the Swamp, there have been 3 home
fires. This area is so remote that all the fire department can do mostly is
bring sympathy cards.
Back when I was gainfully employed we used to have fire drills and
(better yet) lessons from the fire guys to teach us...

The Seamy and Disturbing Flipside of Our Chocolate... by
Dr. Zachary Smith
It may not change anything - we're addicted to our chocolate - but you
really should know...

We're not just talking child labor here - we're talking HUMAN
TRAFFICKING i.e.SLAVERY.
How's that chocolate taste now?

I'm not in the mood.... by
Kate in MI
to sew? Summer doldrums? I don't know but I suspect it is because I have
let my sewing area creep into a total state of disarray. So I need to clean
it up (and find some missing parts of projects) and get it re-organized.
But I'm having trouble getting beyond the inertia.
So how do you get...

OT The Weather Channel by

I checked my email today and what to my wondering eyes did appear? but a
bunch of panicked notes inquiring after our well being and asking how we
were managing the flooding.
I was completely baffled.
Come to find out that Jamestown was featured on the weather channel
yesterday. They made much...

piecing on cruise suggestions? by
Mary
I have booked a 24 day cruise for next March, and am looking for
suggestions for blocks to stitch during quiet afternoons on board. I
would like to take some whole-cloth work, but that takes up far too
much room in a suitcase -- I am going carry-on only as I did for 27
days earlier this year. So...

good thing you won't meet this guy, we don't want you strung up for murder

On and Off Topic-Good thoughts needed by
Steven Cook
Hi All
First, if you can spare good safety thoughts, prayers, juju, stars aligned,
or whatever, Bert and I would certainly welcome it for the next two weeks.
Our son has a friend that bought a motorbike in DC, had it trailerd to San
Diego, and volunteered to DRIVE, YES DRIVE it all the way back...

light stand for Ott by
Mary
I went to Michael's early last week, and bought not one but TWO Ott
lights! I am using one of them at my computer for good light on
overcast days and in the evenings, and the other for quilting.
However, the one for quilting just wasn't good on the table next to my
favorite wingback chair, so it...

OT I am beginning to hate the month of June by
NightMist
Why is this you may ask?
Because If I am going to get a weird illness or anything, that seems to
be when it happens.
When I had that extremely high fever and it felt like someone had shoved
a red hot poker up my spine and into my brain it was in June.
Pneumonia last year, late May into...

OT Storms and sewing by
Alice in PA[_3_]
Yesterday I was busily sewing a red and white striped top for a child's
surrey that my brother is restoring. It dates from the 1950's and holds
three children, with the one in the back doing the pedaling and steering.
When I finished it up, I was anxious to get it to the Post Office. When I...
