Blue-clay? by

Where can i find this, what ive heard its sea bottoms and old sea bottoms
(when people dig etc they find it) but then .. how to identify it? .. Ive
found something whitish that atleast i think is what they called blue clay
but as far as i can see when it dries up and is fired it just withers...

High temperature? by

How high temperatures can ceramic hold? .. Any special recepies to make it
stand far over 1300 degrees without melting? : (at most i think it will
come up to about 1500 ... but should not ... :P )
I hope i ask in the right place ... cant see anything else named anything
with clay so .. if im not...

Problems reconciling controller temp to cone: way over fired! by
tony
It's not strictly temperature. it is temperature over time. If you were to
hold at cone 5 temp for some extended time, cone 6 will drop. If you take
it to cone 5 temp, fast, and shut off, cone 4 will just bend. and 5 will be
unaffected. Cones measure "heat-work," not just temperature so...

Am new to pottery and this group. I took a college course in Ceramics
and loved it. I then bought a wheel and kiln from a neighbor, only to
realize I have no idea how to use an electric kiln. Don't know how to
load, turn it on, bisc or even if it works. Thought I would ask help
from some experts...
