Els: Birkeland Bros. Wool by
David R. Sky
Hi Els,
Thanks very much for telling me (a while back) about Birkeland Bros. Wool
and the big carding (?) machine they have in the back of their store - I
went there today for a large (11mm) crochet hook and asked to feel their
machine. You were right - words cannot describe that thing! I had...

Coming out of imposed lurkdom to ask if anyone else has heard from
their NTTP provider(s) that usenet is closing down the entire
rec.crafts. textiles (.whatever, in this case .yarn) ??
I received 4 notices yesterday, from each of the NTTP servers I use.
Back into imposed lurkdom,

I told y'all what I'm up to - who's doing what?
Oh. A friend is pg, she's having a girl (two boys on the hoof
already) and she's asked me to make girly stuff. Ugh. Pink. I'll
force myself because I love my friend, but OH how I despise pink!

I'm trying knitting sheaths by
SpikeDriver
Dear friends,
I am going to try knitting sheaths. The speed Aaron has talked about in
the group has enticed me in to giving and all out try.
I will keep the group informed. I enjoy the continental way of knitting
at this time, the only way I have ever knitted. It is the way I learned
back...

OT useful website by
Wooly
I needed the span of time between two dates - easy to calculate with
year-per-day calenders handy, but I don't have those.
Found this, works like a charm.

Gauge Question by
hesira
I want to make a sweater from a pattern that specifies a yarn that is
no longer around. It is a worsted weight wool with 5 stitches per inch
with #8 US. I can't find a yarn that matches that gauge. I can find
worsted wools with 5 per on 6-7's US. I know gauge is highly dependent
upon the...

What I've been up to by
Wooly
I'm still plugging away on my gansey. Had a friend pin it up today
and we decided I need 2" more on the back. I'm planning to add
shoulder straps in order to lower the front neckline, but the back is
still too short as knitted. Go figure.
I've been spinning and plying like a fiend. The yarn...

Does anyone have a pattern for making a sweater or top from Lion Brand
Incredible? The one I saw a few months back was also useful as a shell
under a blouse. I don't mean the tank-top looking thing on the Lion Brand
website.
I managed to find Incredible on clearance for $1.00 a ball and...
