choosing a new serger by
Polly Esther[_5_]
I've been warned that my favorite serger isn't going to last much longer.
Right now, it only goes if I have the wire to the foot control weighted down
with my 4 D battery flashlight.
Anyone have a new serger that does a beautiful tiny fine rolled edge?
I'm not going to finish seams on canvas...

quilting humor - new thread by
quilter
As I have just sewed a row for the third time and have it come out
exactly the same (5 mismatched points in a row), I thought I would
start a new humor topic/question for all of those must-be-perfect
projects...
How do you hide your mismatched points?
Here are my contributions:

OT Could use some really good thoughts by
Pati C.
We really could use some positive thoughts, prayers or whatever you can
spare at the moment.
It looks like we are going into foreclosure on our house. DH could
really use some positive whatever about the work he keeps trying to get,
and we could use a kick in the wherever for the probate court...

Focus on Design: Churn Dash by
Pat in Virginia
Hello! Every once in blue moon, I post a Focus on
Design thread. The purpose is to encourage conversation
about quilt top patterns. This is not the place to talk
about the QI, nor chocolate, nor the relatives, nor
weather; it is okay to mention those once in a while,
but THIS thread is about...

Quilting Thread question by
Carol Wolfe
Hi Everyone. I have completed a top made of black and bright yellow,
green, purple, red and blue. I am using a black batting and backing it
with a tone on tone black. The top turned out beautiful. Now the
question of how to quilt it. I plan on hand quilting it and since it is
a sampler, I am...

Help! I can't stop!!! by
KJ
Ok, so I got the latest issue of Quilter's Newsletter Magazine and really
liked the quilt that had ovals appliqued to 4.5x5.5" rectangles. It
intrigued me. But it wasn't until I watched one of the current episodes
posted on the Simply Quilts site yesterday that I realized there was a "new"...

Kindergarteners and Color Theory by
frood
Giles was working on her "homework" today, and became quite upset when she
couldn't find a brown crayon. I dug through the crayon bin, and pulled out
several brown crayons. She tried each one, and said each time "this isn't
brown!" Ok so the wrappers didn't say "brown", but if I was making a...

OT : We have an offer! by
nana2b
Woo hoo! We have an offer. Not a fantastic one, but we have countered.
They also wanted to take posession on July 6! LOL! Like I could pack up my
sewing room in that time.

A small finish by
Sandy
Carol Doak's online paper piecing group was treated to a BOM over the
course of the past year. I finished each block as it came out -- all in
3" squares -- and then couldn't think how to put them together in
something a bit different from a 3 x 4 setting. As I was thinking about
that last...

Does anyone own a Singer 600E? (Corrected model number) by
Susan Laity Price
Someone donated a Singer 600E to the ESL (English as a Second
Language) sewing group. The man that is repairing it has trouble with
the bobbin. Does anyone own this machine? Could you email me a copy of
the manual that talks about the bobbin? I will go to his house later
in the day to see if it is...

OT - Good thoughts (again!) needed by
Sharon Harper
Just had a call from DH who is currently in Shenzhen in China. Apart from
having a dose of Bali Belly or the Thai Trots or China Chunders he was
nastily mugged by three of the locals as he finished some shopping and was
walking to find a cab to get back to the hotel. He's just spent half an
hour...

I am Rhoda E. Wicker's daughter. I am writing back to follow up on previous, recent messages concerning her health.
My mother passed away quietly, in her sleep, about two months from her admission under Hospice to a care facility a fifteen-minute drive from our home.. She died this past Tuesday,...

OT - Heart Attack news by
Queen of Squishies
Here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the
truth after all the conflicting medical studies:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks
than Americans.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer ...
Orientals by
Boca Jan
Does anyone else have an addiction to Oriental fabric? I can't keep my
fingers off it, and I have a bunch. My problem is I can't cut into it. I
haven't seen a pattern that I think will lend itself to the lovely prints
except for panel quilts.
Anyone out there like me?
My machine is a bit dead.... by
Johanna Gibson
Hiya folks,
My sewing machine is a bit dead. The wee clamp that holds the
sewing needle in place snapped in half last night. Just like that. I
was sewing denim, yes, but I was using a jeans needle, very low
tension, and it was only 2 thicknesses. No I did not hit a metal stud
- I have already...
