Stubai tools by
AAvK
Can anyone comment on the edge retaining quality of Stubai carving tools,
even by comparison with other famous name tools? I have their bench chisels
and am very impressed with the quality of the steel.
Are there any really good U.S. made carving tools?
TIA all,

Hi all,
Some time back I recall seeing an accessory that was basically a
chainsaw blade made to fit onto a hand grinder. I've been searching all
over the web, but can't seem to find it. Any pointers would be much
appreciated.
Thanks

Halloween -- planning for next year -- tools and tool storage by
LurfysMa
Over the past several years, we have been building a bit of an annual
family tradition of pumpkin carving.
The first year, I bought some of those kits with plastic cutters and
scrapers and some patterns. Surprisingly, the "kids" (ages 20-40) and
their kids really got into it.
Each year it got a...

where to start by
Brent Beal
To all of those who write in wanting to know which tools to start out with,
the latest edition of Woodcarving Illustrated has a very good article on the
chisels and gouges to begin with.
Good luck and happy caring.

carving pliars by

I was shown a pair of pliers carved from a solid piece of wood. I have tried
to duplicate them - but to no avail. Does any one know how to carve the
hinge? I've tried spliting the wood with my knife and I sawed part wasy with
my band saw - but the wood always breaks before the hinge works. Thank...

I am looking for Butternut Carving Blocks.
I have bought some at Retail Wood Craft type stores, but it always has alot

non -wormhole stuff.
So far the best deal I have found is 3" x 3" x 12" for $7.50 a piece.

Lettering Font by
Henry Springer
Has anyone a recommendation for a suitable computer font to use for
lettering purposes - nothing fancy. I haven't found one that looks
elegant but doesn't have excessively thin sections or fragile serifs.

Nora Hall classes Opinions please by
TomL
I have the opportunity to take 4 days of classes given by Nora Hall.
I'm wondering what the consensus is about her work and methods. The
little I've read is that she does 'european' carving. How does that
differ from plain ol' carving? I've also read that her work is mostly
architectural carvings...
