OT Sad Pet News by CATS
You might notice my sig block has changed. My beloved Enness passed away tonight. The heat this week really took its toll and she was suffering progressive heart failure. I could not stand to think of her being distressed or in pain so we took a trip to our local vet who confirmed that there...

A note of thanks. by John
I want to take the time to give a thanks, to each and every one of you who have responded to all of my postings with helpful ideas and encouragements. It is rather isolated when you are of the (other) gender and doing something that is out of the mainstream of (accepted) activity. I feel a sense of...

Free embellishments or free jeans??? by Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.
Today I made my weekly (I wish!) pilgrimage to Wal-mart for the necessities of life- dog food, dog treats, people food, cleaning supplies, etc. I saw a sale rack in the ladies department with a "75% off" sign. Being a true-blue American bargain shopper to the core, it drew me like a magnet. I...

Square Kufic by Jack Campin - bogus address
Anybody here seen a quilt that used Square Kufic lettering? It's an ancient Arabic letterform commonly used for carved inscriptions on buildings - often formed into designs that look a bit like a maze or crossword puzzle. I have tried Google. Not a lot of help. I can't even find a full set of...

Anyone know where I can learn to use my embrodiery machine? by No Name
I bought a Janome embroidery machine from a quilt shop in Florida. The shop is too far away to get lessons and the machine just sits here looking at me. I'm scared to death of it. Anyone know where I can get lessons in South Florida near Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood area? I don't mind paying for...

Partridge in a Pear Tree by Sally Swindells
I read all the messages quickly earlier on today and I think someone asked about my Partridge in a Pear Tree block in my sampler quilt. (however I did go to sleep early evening, so may have dreamed it!) I've been all through the posts, but can't find the message! Anyway, if I didn't dream the...
