Putting the boot in... And a thread question. by
Kate Dicey
I've been playing! Specifically with Christmas stockings. I've made
three today. They are quite plain as they have very rich fabrics.
One is a black jacquard polycotton curtain fabric. I gave it a curly,
pointy toe with a gold bell on, and some rich gold and black braid round
the top. I think...

OT Finally back on line by
Kate T.
Hey Everyone:
After 38 days away from home because of the hurricanes I am finally
back on line. I now have electricity, phone and water. I arrived home
last Sunday and couldn't get the electric on till Tuesday. I had to
live in my van. Thank goodness for the cool front that came through.
Now I...

refugees in TX by
Musicmaker
Weel, as I'm sure you all know, things in the south may not be headline
news anymore, but life is far from normal. I have family in San
Antonio, from where my sister manages several Tx nursing homes and my
Mom works as a volunteer at RACAP (Randolph Area Christian Assistance
Program). Racap runs...

Embroidery Machines by
Mika
I have decided that I'm going to get an inexpensive embroidery machine in
the next couple of weeks that I can learn and practice on. So I was
wondering what you all would recommend. I am leaning toward just getting the
Brother Disney machine. Does anyone have this machine? If so, what is it
like?...

Totally OT - I'm gonna be on TV today by
Jenn/Jalynne
I think...lol. For those of you who live in the Seattle metro area, this
would be more pertinent, but....I was given the opportunity to join a small
group to promote the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra and Chorus (I'm a chorus
member), on a local TV show....Northwest Afternoon. I believe it should...

Hi everyone, I am still trying to unpack and get things normal again. My
sewing room is next on the list. I really long to sit at Bernie and play
for just 1 hour.
My Norton Anti-Virus is expiring and I would like to know if any of you have
a better product to recommend. I tried to use the...

my first squishy in the new house! by
DrQuilter
Perfect scraps for my MQ! Thank you, you know who you are (and I will be
emailing you personally). But I just wanted to remind squishy senders to
keep at it (and no, this is not a not too subtle beg, you don't have to
send them to me, just send them to anybody! :o). Although the QoS does
have my...

A blackbelt level tightwad by
Polly Esther
There's a ruler here that I love. Love too much. There are others but this
is the one I always pick up. After many happy years together the lines wore
off right at the front edge. "Why", I said to myself, "don't you fix it?"
So I did. I sort of wiped off the ruler and drew new lines with my...

How to decide which color goes where??? by
frood
Have you already used graph paper and colored pencils? I use EQ5 to do the
same thing, but graph paper just as good, and more portable! G After that,
you could try making a sample block with the fabrics you chose to see how
that looks.
For the twin quilts I made (for my own twins), I used the...

I am currently between projects. Ok, not exactly "between" as in, "finished
that one, what's next" but, at a point where I can safely start a new
project and still get the others done and keep some semblance of sanity. (no
laughing from the peanut gallery, please)
I haven't yet decided what's...

Delurking at last by
Harry and Anita
Hi all,
Guess it is time I pop out of lurkdom and introduce myself. My name is
Anita and I currently live in Anchorage Alaska. I have no QIs (we move way
too often to be fair to the four-legged friends), two kids (1 boy, 1 girl),
love chocolate in just about any form and am attempting my first...
