Can anyone HELP me? by
Alexandra Weingertner
Hi,
I'm a romanian beginner in stained glass art.
Because in my country there are no books or magazines on this subject,
and because I can't buy them on the net(I don't have an international
VISA card - our houseincome is 7000$/year), I want to ask you if you
can help me with any books or...

Glass stock removal test for cerium oxide by
mjj
I'm looking for labs that will do glass stock removal tests for cerium
oxide glass polishing powder. I'm trying to compare the glass
polishing/removal speeds of different cerium oxide products. Thanks in
advance.

New Product Coming Soon by
Moonraker
Like most of us, I hate mudding up lead panels and all the manual labor and
intensive cleaning that has to be done. Besides the mess, I have a
surgically repaired shoulder that gets tired from all the brushing. So,
being a lazy sort, I designed a way to motorize this.
I know there is another...

More Glass Classes for 2005 by
hmHAT
Here is another announcement I got in my email. It is announcing 2005
classes for the Eugene Glass School in Eugene Oregon. Eugene is in the
Willamette valley about 100 mi south (I've only been there a couple of times
so I might be off a few mi) of Portland near I-5. They have some great
classes...

crystal ball question by
socal
Hello,
I see you have discussed crystal balls before, but i am still stumped
as to what i have. I bought a sphere about 10 years ago at a resale
shop. The diameter is approx. 18". It is very pretty and fairly heavy.
I do not think it's quartz because of some tiny pin point sized bubbles
inside. The...

Trying to stick tube to vessel by
Samantha BeanHead
Hi,
I am wondering how I should go about sticking a piece of soda lime
glass tubing to a larger glass vessel, such as large jar or demijon,
using a blowtorch (or do i hafta do something else first like drilling
to make the hole?) I am also wondering where I should find such a
vessel in order to...

Forward of HotGlass 2005 East info by
hmHAT
I got this in my email and thought there might be someone in the NG
interested in some warn/hot glass training. It's in Corning NY and is the
East Coast version of Hot Glass Horizons. I am not affiliated with them in
anyway, just a satisfied past participant.
Have a good one, hope someone can take...

Starter kiln for warm glass by
Adrian Brentnall
Hi All
I'm thinking about starting some warm glass.
Have been enjoying making & selling items by the Tiffany
technique with copper foil etc - but like the idea of fusing /
slumping - with possibly some enamelling on copper and possibly some
beadwork.
Any suggestions for a starter kiln ? - is it...

Where do people buy silver foil? by
Mike Beede
I got a recommendation from someone last year and promptly
lost it. Does anyone out there have a favorite source of silver
leaf? The one I was recommended was on the order of half the
price of the big hot glass places.
Thanks,
Mike Beede

COE of Kokomo Glass? by
Janet R
Does anyone know the COE of Kokomo Stained Glass? I have called and
emailed this company a couple times with no answers. Every other
glass company has been a tremendous help, but not Kokomo.
Any help would be appreciated! :)

Glass Tubing by
Samantha BeanHead
Hi there!
I am trying to get set up to start doing some glass blowing, and so
I'm trying to obtain some soda lime and borosilicate glass tubing.
I've tried scientific glass supply companies but they either won't
supply to private customers or you must have an order minimum of £100.
I am wondering...

I want to mold an object by
Mike Firth
Depending on how accurate "accurate" has to be and what material you are
using for the prototypes,
Latex (sold as molding compound at places like Hobby Lobby and some
hardware stores) will make accurate
soft low temperature molds in which you can make copies with plaster,
casting wax or, perhaps...

Suggestions needed for tinting glass by
Ron
I need suggestions for tinting glass for two pieces of furniture I am
building,
an entertainment center and a book case.
I'd like a smokey/dark tint, just to 'hide' the cabinet contents.
I'm a woodworker with no experience working with glass.
I've found what appears to be a good source 1/4"...
