Anyone Carving Foam? by
GaryR52
As in expanded polystyrene (EPS) or polyurethane foam, that is. I'm planning
to give this a try as a core material for fiberglass sculpture. Also, it can
be finished with a number of other materials, including Design Cast
(http://www.design-cast.com/index.php).

Large sculpture? by
[email protected]
There don't seem to be blocks of wood available that are much bigger
than several inches across. If I want to make a large sculpture, should
I glue together smaller pieces of wood? What kind of glue should I use?
Is epoxy OK? Should I try to make the core hollow to avoid cracking?

Did someone mention... Gourds? by
editor_gourdvine
Hi there!
I see that Google has it's Groups thing going (Beta), so I figured I'd
see if anyone had started a Gourd Group. Apparently not.. yet. But a
search brought up this group and others, and so I thought I'd introduce
myself.
I'm Vince, and in late 2002 I began a full-color print magazine...

Substituting a power drill for a buffing motor by
Jey
I am dirt poor—well, maybe poorer than dirt—and am looking for the ABSOLUTE
CHEAPEST way to carve and then polish a tiny sample of malachite. I want
to make a little malachite plug slightly skinnier in the middle than it is
at the ends. Since this is the only project I am considering, buying...

sweep radius families by
Australopithecus scobis
Greetings,
I'm trying to find a table of the diameters of various sweeps. Put the
blade of a random gouge on a piece of scrap and spin it: you get a circle.
The circles traced by various sizes of the same sweep number will be
different. Some other sweep+size, however, will fit that traced...

bone carving by
Yes, I want to try some. I've done soapstone and alabaster (much softer) but
I like the texture of the bone carvings I have seen. I thought I'd give it a
try. Chris

carving a tree stump by
Jim Wild
I work at a golf coarse where we have a large stump 4 feet tall that my
boss wants to have carved into a standing marsh hawk since the name of
the course is marsh hawk. I suppose it would be done with one of these
circular power carvers. My question is, How would I begin to find a
person to do this...
