Finding an old style tool by
NightMist
So I have this old bodkin that I have been using for sequins and beading
and the like.
Now that I have a dancing daughter I find I am getting a lot more call
for such things. I used to do them but seldom for there hasn't been
much call for such fancies these last couple of decades.
I should...

Quilted jacket by
Brian[_3_]
Several years ago I made myself a quilted jacket
(https://www.flickr.com/photos/brian0908/, album = quilted jacket). I
took the pictures with my phone, so they are not "great." Even where I
live, Tucson, AZ, it gets cold enough where I need to wear this
relatively heavy jacket some of the...

OT Stove Mouse Wins! now: The Revenge of Curly Whiskers by
Night Mist
It was a thing of beauty.
Stove Mouse popped out, Jericho was waiting on his chair and just stood with one paw on the stove and reached out with the other paw, snagged Stove Mouse and threw him down to the floor where Jiji was waiting. Jiji dispatched Stove mouse immediately.
It was like they...

Tumbler Quilt by
[email protected]
Finished my Flutterby quilt and now onto the Tumbler. I did one of these quilts many years ago, so it is an old quilt/pattern. I needed something to use up left over pieces of this and that, along with material in layer cakes and charm packs I didn't like, so this quilt is everything including the...

HUG Request was sent by
Kate in MI[_4_]
A HUG request went out yesterday to everyone on the HUG list that I have
current addresses for.
Several bounced due to bad addresses.
If you are on the HUG list but didn't get the message -- please let me know.
If you are new to RCTQ and are not familiar with the HUG list... or what a
HUG...

The Flutterby Quilt by
[email protected]
I have revised a pattern that uses 2 1/2 inch jelly rolls. Instead I wanted to use a (42 piece) 10" layer cake I just brought. There was only 2 or 3 prints that I liked, the rest was ugly as far as I was concerned. Will never buy another layer cake. I recommend cutting your own 10 inch squares. ...

Last Call for Tigg's Hug Blocks by
Kate_in_MI
Mary Munn Dorchak asks:
"Are there any other hug blocks I should be looking for other than from
Johanna Gibson? I have posted here or emailed all hug block senders as I
received the blocks."
I'll be sure to forward any replies here to Mary.
Thanks

Repairing a quilt by
Brian[_3_]
My philosophy of quilting is that it is both a fine art and a practical
art.
The fine art portion is that I think even a "stash buster" quilt should
somewhat be coordinated in the colors/patterns chosen, as judged by the
quiltmaker.
The practical art part is that quilts are meant to be used...

Need finishing help in SFBA by
Nellie
Hi there,
Long time lurker and sometime poster from long ago here.
I made a queen sized quilt top for my daughter but am unable to quilt it. I started it and made a mess.
I need someone in the SFBA who can help me out and undo my mess and finish quilting it for me.
There used to be a poster named...

P.S. I didn't realize you're in the states now . . . shows how infrequently I visit RCTQ on this site.
The FB page is very hard to be added to Nann, my request has been pending for some time.

Catching up on other projects by
[email protected]
Thought I better clue everyone in on what I am doing now. I have made two sets of 4 place mats/napkins for my kitchen and didn't like either one, so they will go to the Senior Centers craft show along with those hot pads I make after every quilt to get rid of extra fabric. I also finished pin...

Baby Quilts by

Pine Trees and squares by
[email protected]
I found this picture of a quilt in a magazine or quilt flyer. It is very simple except for the pine trees. There are 16 squares in one block and then the pine tree block. I have never made a pine tree before, so this looks like a challenge for me. Since I have only a picture and no instructions,...

back from retreat by

I just spent about 4 days at a quilting retreat at a lovely camp in
northern Wisconsin. I had a great time and got quite a bit accomplished.
About 7 years ago, I took a "design a mariner's compass" workshop with
Gail Garber at the Minnesota Quilt Show. I completed the center and
added one...

"sea silk", aka byssus from Sardinia by

I doubt this stuff is ever going to feature in a quilt, but it's
the most remarkable story about a textile craft I've read in a

I like the way it is not a commodity. A lot us treat our quilts
