Way OT by
Nell Reynolds
Try to think of this as salt water chocolate. Some months ago, Old Bay
Seasonings had an essay contest (100 words or less) on Why I Like Shrimp
Boiled with Old Bay Seasoning. As a dyed in the wool contester, I wrote my
brief essay and forgot about it.
On Friday, I got a phone call from Julie with...

Kia Ora,
Well, not really having worked on any quilts this year (which I intend to

me motivated once more was DD#1 (she is 18 years old) asking if she could
make a quilt.

Wacky-wedge quilting by
Shawn
I've been perusing quilting magazine looking for one I liked and could
suggest to DS's and DH that a subscription would make a nice little BD gift.
Came across the June 2003 issue of Quilter's World. They have the
directions in there for a wacky-wedge quilt that is gorgeous. It's called
"Wizard's...

OT grammar concerns by
Roberta Zollner
To help you communicate more effectively with the rest of us, I forward
these rules of grammar.
Roberta in D
1. Verbs has to agree with their subjects.
2. Prepositions are not words to end sentences with.
3. And don't start a sentence with a conjunction.
4. It is wrong to ever split an...

hug quilt found! by
Marijke
Don't know how, don't know why...don't know where the quilt has been but it
mysteriously showed up out of nowhere.
Must have been all the good thoughts sent by friendly quilters. ;-))))
and... she loves it. Absolutely loves it.

Color vote for Stack and Whack by
CHARLES MURPHY
This brought up several interesting points:
Color is subjective! Everyone sees color differently and responds
personally. The yellow makes the blue glow, actually enhances the blue,
(additive property of color)
The green makes the orange wings and red lady bugs dance.
The light blue makes the...

ROFLOL--- almost on topic by
The HairyFacedOnes 'N Me
Back when we had cattle and horses and goats and chickens, ducks, guinea
fowl and geese and owned many acres of land, I had a professionally made
sign to post at our driveway...... "Doodlebug Ranch and Quilt Studio".
Well, I no longer have all those critters, but when I built this house I

YBR quilting suggestions needed by
Gail M.
Hi all,
I'm hoping the many folks who have done Yellow Brick Road quilts
will have some suggestions for quilting designs. I'm making this
for a friend's baby shower on Sunday 20 July. (!!) Fortunately my
current writing contract has been slightly delayed, so I should have
a couple of almost-full...

Smooth rolling vs rough braking by
Jennifer Hepworth
It may not be caused by a dull rotary blade afterall though continued
use will have that result.
The next time you pick up your rotary cutter - take a moment to
dismantle it and to look closely at the shaft of the holding screw. I
was having 'sudden braking' and 'jerky starts' while using my...

OT- how strange by

i have no idea how much if any of this is true but sure is strange. j*
The next time you are washing your hands and complain
because the water temperature isn't just how you like
it, think about how things used to be.
Here are some facts about the 1500s:
Most people got married in June because...

OT - Wanna see Yoda the Big Boy? by

My tiny baby is now a big boy. Learning new things every day and just plain
growing way too fast. He's 5 1/2 months now and weighs 18.5lb (up from 6lb 9
oz at birth!)
Ryan (aka Yoda) started eating big boy food this last week. He took to it
right away. I got pictures, of...

Her family has signed the blocks, and addressed them to (whom they hoped for
a little "girl") the news came in yesterday that our baby is going to be a

"Extra" seam allowance? by

Hi, as an on-again-off-again lurker this is the first place I thought to ask
when I had a question. :)
My son's toddler quilt was my second quilt and though it had no triangles,
only squares and rectangles, it had *lots* of seams and pieces. Now that he's

Man, I suck at this. Help! by
MSM
I'm trying to quilt the flannel baby quilt by machine but man, I suck at
this. I have tried and tried to make a nice flowing heart design in the
border but I can't seem to get the quilt to move easily enough to make the
design look even . It zigs and zags this way and that making a big ugly
mess....
