Moravian star assembly by
Wayne E. Pfeffer
There is another way to make the star. Instead of using triangles for
the points, use 4 sided polygons. You will end up with a star where the
center isn't hollow, but I've found that they are easier to put
together. The point of the polygon that goes in the center of the star
should 90 degrees,...

Waaaaah! :-( by
suzilem
I just had my first chunk-o-glass fracture in my kiln. :-( I was slumping
a 3.5"x3.5" shallow dish and it cracked right down the middle and flung its
two halves to opposite sides of my kiln (granted, since the cavity is only
8"x8" they didn't fling far). What's REALLY annoying is this...

sandblasting resist by
Jackie L. Preston
Does anyone know of a resist that can be run through an injet or laser
printer. I have cut vinyl resist into sheets and run through my injet
printer and the design transfers fine but never dries so smudges easily when
trying to cut. I am concerned about the heat of a laser jet causing...

Fusing/slumping/casting with kiln sitter by
Gordon Watt
I've done a little bit of kilnwork before, but have never managed to get
access to a kiln regularly. A friend has offered me a loan of her ceramics
kiln (she mainly fires tiles) fitted with a kiln sitter.
I appreciate that this isn't the ideal method of learning, but at present
the possibility of...

Ramping up by
nJb
As a follow up to another thread.
Last night I was refiring 3 bowl blanks. 11" Diameter ~.280 thick. I
ramped to 1000F at 450F/hr. one of the blanks cracked. I think I'll
stick with the 300/hr rate.

fine group know...

AD : My first Lentils with Bullseye Glass ! by
bijoulune
Hi to all,
I would like to share my joy of making lentils beads. I just love making
that shape of beads, it's very cool to be able to put more details on a bead
because of the large space available on the flat surface of the bead.
