just curious by

Howcome my 1 mm (or so) 14K diamond cut square curb chain, that I used to
wear often (and the rest of the time was keeping some pendants' company in a
box) and is over a decade old, still looks nice and shiny? Is it solely
cause it's a small piece, so scratches are too small to be clearly...

photographing rings with depth of field by
[email protected]
Hi,
Ive been working for almost a month and a half now attempting to get
crips picture of my rings with maximum depth of field. I originally
started out taking pictures with the Nikon D70 and the nikon micro
lens. This really limited my depth of field in that the bottom of the
ring was...

Gem stone colours/naming by
CheshireCat
Hi all
I've only recently become interested in faceted gemstones since I discovered
gemstone sellers on the www, so Ive only got very little knowledge so far.
I've been buying samples from thailand or from ebay.
What I want to ask is advice on naming of the types of stones within the
same gemstone...

Citrine, where does gem quality come from? by
CheshireCat
Ive seen several examples of citrine geode and every one of them has

Dear rec.crafts.jewelry members,
Apologies for barging in on your group like this but I'm unsure where

we're selling off his collection of tools, rocks, and miscellany next
weekend in Portland Oregon.

Classic tiffany - explanation? by
Joshua Beall
Hi All,
I've been googling for an explanation of what exactly the classic tiffany
style for an engagement ring *means*, and so far I've turned up nothing.
I've asked various friends and none of them have known either. It seems to
be a popular style. Any clarification on this matter would be...

clarity enhanced diamonds by
Lawrence
hi
i have some questions about clarity-enhanced diamonds.
a.) in general, does clarity enhancing a diamond diminish it's original
fire? to me, it seems so from observation - any truth or confirmation to
this?
b.) CE diamonds can darken if exposed to extreme heat (a bench jeweler's
torch)....
