A Christmas Groaner by
Sandy
Thank you Polly for your annual Christmas Joke. I'm primarily a
lurker but love the comradery of this group and of course, your
Christmas Joke.
Some one shared this one with me:
What do you call a bunch of
grandmasters of chess bragging about
their games in a hotel lobby?

Went to Dr yesterday by
grammykathy
I was feeling so tired, no past tired I could barely move and have
been
haveing a really hard time breathing for about a month and it was
getting
worse. I had to pick up the DGDs yesterday after quilting time so
decided
to stop by the Dr and see if he could work me in. I couldn't believe

Seasonal Chuckle by
Johanna Gibson
In Russia there lived a man named Rudolf. He and his wife had
several children and, one day while getting everyone dressed and out
to school, Rudolf mentioned to his wife that it was raining and the
kids needed their coats and boots. His wife said to him that he was
wrong and it was actually...

UK TV Quilt by
Estelle Gallagher
Anyone over here see the Red/Green Log Cabin Quilt on the Paul O'Grady show
at 5 .0 pm. It is very eye-catching, The guests were commenting on it this
evening. I do love LC and now have an urgent desire to go right upstairs and
start one. Never mind all the Christmas gifts to be finished...

Would you keep a store sample you had made? by
Julia in MN
Joan in Nebraska often makes samples for a quilt shop and recently
someone asked if she gets to keep the sample tops that she makes. Her
answer was that she gets a choice: she can keep the top, she can get
materials to make another one for herself, or she can get store credit.
She replied that...

Humor Break by
Debra
Attending a wedding for the first time, a little girl whispered to her
mother, "Why is the bride dressed in white?"
"Because white is the color of happiness, and today is the happiest
day of
her life," her mother tried to explain, keeping it simple.
The child thought about this for a moment,...

Fleece shawls by
Donna in Idaho[_2_]
I found these instructions in a book I have for making fleece shawls. Cut
polar fleece 22" x 72" (if you only have one yard of fleece, cut two 22"
strips and sew end to end to make it 72"). You could make "cuffs" - cut 7"
x 9" (or smaller depending on the size of the wrists) - sewed to the...

About two years ago, I posted asking for non-USA money for my precious

OT rain! by
Taria
We woke to the glorious sound of rain this morning in the
high desert of so cal. It is a foreign sound. Rain has
been rare here. We need it so desperately. Hopefully
it is not so hard that hillsides in the recent fire areas
are sliding. Rain is such a wonderful sound when it has
been so long...

Sad update by
KJ
The chapter has ended with my dad's situation. He passed away this
afternoon. I'm very thankful he didn't have to suffer with pain and
disability any longer than he did. He had less than two months of
hospitalization and struggle. In the big picture, that's not too bad. He
was one of the...

Gee's Bend Quilts by
Lenore L
Hi All,
Just returned from the Gee's Bend quilt exhibit at the Tacoma Art Museum.
Seeing these quilts in person makes you realize what all the hoopla is
about. Seeing such sweetness and beauty come from women who have been so
materially poor their entire lives is inspiring.
Most of these...

Do any of you folks collect vintage notions? I know some of you c
ollect old sewing machines. I have found a very few obviously quite
old tiny boxes of needes. Most are hand needles -- the teeniest little
things I have ever seen. I think I have one little container of
machine needles. And,...
