Simply Quilts- instruction question by
Evie
I'm making Barbara Brackman's calico flag that was shown on episode
327. I've pieced the front. The directions then say to cut a backing
1/2" larger than the front, sew to front, turn inside out. No batting.
Well, first I thought it meant to cut the back 1/2" larger on each
side for a total of 1"...

advent calendar by
Sarah Dixon
I want to make my son an advent calendar. I thought that I would make
24 applique blocks with Christmas things which I would join together
with sashing from a Christmas material. I thought that I would then add
doors with appliqued numbers to hide each of the blocks, on the back of
each door I...

Janome question by
John Freese
I just finished a table runner after taking a class called "finish and
fold" technique by The Quilt Yard. If anyone has done this, I'd be
interested in what you think. It is a quilt as you go kind of thing. In it,
you use your blanket stitch to finish off seams where you have joined
together log...

Surge Protectors by
Nell Reynolds
Whose computer went out because a surge protector didn't protect? I went
back looking for that message, but it is hiding.
My DH just read to me from his computer screen that today's coffee makers
have more computer chips than the first manned space ship. I remember how
thrilling it was. I also...

OT Introducing Me (long winded) by
Anne
Hello rctq,
My name is Anne. I don't have a newsgroup-ish handle, but my CB handle
many years ago was Ditch Witch. Maybe I'll become Stitch Witch. Gotta
think about it a bit. Since the last census, we are supposed to refer to
the San Francisco Bay Area as the Greater San Jose Area because SJ...

OT - another giggle on the meter by
Jennifer Hepworth
Subject: Sunday Quickie
=A0
=A0
John and Nancy decided that the only way to pull off a
Sunday afternoon quickie with their 6 year old son in the
apartment was to send him out on the balcony and order
him to report on all the neighbourhood activities.

The boy began his commentary as his parents...

MerryStahel
Click on my Webshots URL below and then go to MORE QUILTS.
Note the bits of thread and fabric all over my sewing room carpet around the
quilts...no point in cleaning it up, I'm just gonna get it all over again G.

Seascape finished... by
MerryStahel
Okay, I got this wild hair and felt the need to do more than the spider quilt
this evening...
I had a Bonnie Kaster pattern, SEASCAPE, from years ago. It was mostly
finished, just needed some machine applique bits and some fun with colored
markers (the details were done with markers).
So I...

CNYstitcher
day before yesterday, I had to run to the library to get a book that DH
had placed on hold and make some copies. When we got ready to leave, DS

Towels in place of Batting? by
Jill Pochik
Do you think it would be possible to use old towels in place of batting
in my animal quilts? Has anyone done this?
I guess they would wash and dry well.
Thanks for any help.

Washing a new quilt by
Hanne Gottliebsen
With my challenge quilt due tomorrow night, I just made it! Finished
the binding this morning, then bunged the quilt in the washer (I
always do that, + needed to get pin holes out).
However, my dryer is in strike (and knowing my appartment complex, it
will not be fixed in time for this quilt) -...

QUICK QUILTS using Quick Bias by
MerryStahel
I bought this book on Saturday because I've had 2 rolls of quick bias tape that
I've had for like 5 years! I'm a visual learner and was hoping someone would
SHOW me how to use it...well, the book is very clear. What I couldn't get out
of the written instructions was simply repeated in the...

Back from Europe! by
QuiltShopHopper
We had cancelled flights and collapsed train tunnels and Chocolate Bombe
cake and gelato, good coffee and German sausages, we saw palaces and very
dirty homeless people with cell phones, an escape artist like Houdini, a
toilet seat that wipes itself, and boy am I glad to be back in the USA.

Quilt airing by
AliceW
I went to Pennington Quilts today, a very nice LQS in Hopewell, NJ to see
their "quilt airing" today. I was so surprised. I had not heard of this
before, but they have a wonderful wooded area behind the shop and they
strung clothes line between the trees and invited those that had taken
classes...

How nice to have you back, Deb. Glad to hear everything is going well with
your health issues. Take it easy for a while, though. Gusto is good, but
do it in shot-glass size!
