OT-Vic/Ike by
Lucille[_3_]
I just looked at the stormtracking page and Ike is still on track to make
landfall in San Antonio and go up toward Houston. Maybe you'll actually
get some of the rain you've wanted.

Needlework in Scotland by
vixola
Hi All,
I'm interested in taking up cross-stitch or some other style of needlework,
but I'm hopeless at learning from books. I was wondering, are there any
sewing-circles, or groups, or classes etc in the East of Scotland (Dundee -
Arbroath area)?
It may be a shot in the dark, but hopefully no...

I have no idea about service etc, but this is a very nice site to look at
indeed. www.violarium.com.
Lots of samplers, bicornus etc by mostly French designers. I had a lovely
browse last night.

Mexican Dress Pattern by
StitchSimply
That dress is beautiful, it look like it would keep you busy for a
while. Has anyone tried to do yokes and cuff, etc on a western
shirt? I want to make shirts for my kids for Christmas (7 year old
triplets). Most of the ideas I've seen on pre-made shirts are pretty
elaborate for hand work. I...

Busy weekend - some stitching involved by
Cheryl Isaak
Well, it was busy - DS's hockey team had it first two games (won both, a win
for each goalie), DD had her first team skate, I worked, I read, I stitched
a little.
Pin stretched a few pieces for other people at work, fondled a few finishes
of other people.
Finished two books and dealt with Hanna's...

Forget part of my stitching/hockey connection on Sunday by
Cheryl Isaak
Joined DH at the rink to watch DS play on Sunday afternoon. Walk up, say hi
to a few of the parents I know. (very few on this team)
I start to sit down and see Marianne Anderson, late of this group. Her DS is
on my DS's team. Has her hockey playing daughter with her too. We've been
running into...

OFF TOPIC - Hanna has blown through NH by
Cheryl Isaak
No wind damage. Lots of localized and street flooding. I have water in my
basement. Heard the power blip around 3 AM. NH seems to have survived
relatively intact.
Some areas had 6 plus inches of rain in just a few hours. In about 15
minutes, I'm going get dressed and head the grocery store and see...

Thread Storage...what do you use? by
Stef[_2_]
I am currently using DMC's binder with plastic inserts but I have so
many skiens that they are never going to all fit in there. I might
keep it for certain projects or for travel but in the meantime I am
looking for a better way to store all my threads.
What does every one else use? Does any one...

OT. Evacuated again. by
Olwyn Mary
Here we go again. Three years ago today, Katrina slammed the Gulf
Coast, and now Gustav is swirling towards us. This time, we decided to
get out early, being as dh is retired and we can do so. After much
organising, telephoning etc., we are in a motel in Hammond, LA, about an
hour north of...

Off Topic - need a line a helmet bag by
Cheryl Isaak
Ok DD's new helmet FINALLY arrived. Now to keep it as "pretty" as possible,
I want to make a helmet bag. I have some tube knit fabric in blue and

NOW - to line it - is it possible to find yardage of the micro-fiber cloth
or should I buy a towel out of...

Maryland State Fair Happy Dance! by
Susan Hartman
I got three ribbons! Two second-place ones and a fifth-place. The
fifth-place was in special category: Christmas ornaments; I don't thing
regular categories go "down" that far.
I'll try to get photos soon on my r.c.t.n.p. Not there yet - I'll have
to borrow DD's camera.
