Welcome back! by
Louise in Iowa
I've seen a couple of names today that I hadn't seen in a while: Rose in CA
and Tricia in Petoskey (hope I spelled that right). Granted, my newsreader
is kind of flaky sometimes, so maybe I just hadn't seen your messages, but
regardless, it's good to see both of you again.

Size question by
Heidi from Germany
Hi all,
I've been quite silent for the last months, but have been always
reading...
Now I have a question.
I'm making a quilt for my mother, it will be used on the sofa. I made
6" stars and will make a straight setting with a 1" sashing in
between. I calculated and planned and came up with a...

Adblock Plus by
Liz Megerle
Roberta's complaint about the ads in Webshots prompted me to post this.
Adblock Plus was mentioned in Forbes magazine in an article about
"What if people don't see internet advertising?" It's a free download
for Thunderbird. I showed the article to DH and he installed it, so I
can't speak for...

OT - okay, everybody, here's the question by
Karen, Queen of Squishies
Can ANYone on here get through to me at my email address?
Or is EVERYone being bounced?
Something just doesn't look quite right, and I need facts. I've emailed my
isp but I have a feeling I'm going to have to track down a phone number and
talk to them in person. I want to at least sound like...

'Singing the Blues' Applique finished. by
Sally Swindells
Phewww.....
Finished the applique last night (except for the bird's beak and a
possible extra leaf if I don't like his legs!).
Started to sandwich him and then thought I ought to take a picture 5
minutes later than I should - hence the one line of basting down the
middle. I've decided that...

Blessing of valor quilts & blankes by
nana wilson
On Sunday we went to the church ceremony of this blessing. It was very
moving. I had a misty eye now & then. There were 165 of the quilts &
knitted & crocheted covers. It was a sight to behold.!!
Nana Having been inspired to get back to the ole (new) machine.

Batting question by
L
I'm fond of making quilt tops -- but, I have never finished a quilt. Oh, I
came close, a couple of times, but the 'tied' first quilt begged to be
undone and made into a 'real' quilt before binding. And the sailboat baby
quilt had been straight-line quilted with 'invisible' thread before I read...

*sigh* That's what I've done with my week off. Now for a box and sending

What thread............ by
Marie Dodge[_2_]
What thread do you use in your machines to piece quilts? What thread so you
use to hand quilt? Right now I have a bunch of poly cotton thread from
Wally World.

looking for a star pattern by
Idahoqltr[_2_]
My friend wants an Ohio Star lap quilt and I am thinking that done
traditionally that is a little too much trouble. Does anyone know of
a speed method or a fairly simple star pattern. I am wanting
something one might make as a charity quilt - something to be whipped
up in a few weeks. Thanks for...

Laundering Minkee by
Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.
In my long drawn out search for the best priced Minkee I could find, I saw
some care instructions- some where!- that said to not use fabric softener
with Minkee. Also, to air dry Minkee to prevent static electricity build
up. Did anybody else see the warning about fabric softener? Does...

Happy Dancing with Angels by
Pat in Virginia
On Monday, I finished a UFO. It was a "Christmas Mystery" some years back,
late 90s I think. The time frame is evident by the Debbie Mumm fabric, lots
of maroon and tan, with some yellow and green. I had both the top and back
pieced, so I MQ and bound this charming lap quilt. Finished!...

First project done! by
Steph
I finished piecing my quilt top and finished off the pillow from my
Basics of Quilting class! I'm having them quilt the lap quilt at the
store - that will be another learning project... Machine quilting the
pillow went pretty well (the hand quilted bird in the center went
horribly) but I'm...

current WIPs by
kratersge
I posted pictures of the 2 new WIPs in webshots..
http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/album/548094361QbMrUc
I tend to have 2 WIPs at a time; one machine and one hand.
I'm doing the celtic knotwork with invisible machine applique, and the
piecemakers's "train" quilt is hand work.
I got that...

Need ideas for a wallhanging by
Kiteflyer
I bought some fabric for a wall hanging for my son and his wife, who
wanted an african theme. I wanted a scrappy look or at least an
abstract look, but ideas are few and far between on this one. Here are
the fabrics, am open to any ideas to a pattern which would show off the
larger animals...
