Dinosaur Quilt Finished and Picture by
joan8904 in Bellevue Nebraska
The pattern calls for a solid border, but I think I'm finished, even
if the quilt isn't.

Poor QIs ... talk about infuriatin' service!! by
SewVeryCreative
From what she said (and the angry shouts of other members), she's going to
complain to every agency (most notably the "Dept of Agriculture" here in
FL - who licenses vets here, IIRC). Chances are, though, no one will do a
durn thing. Unfortunately, animals don't seem to rate too high on the...

Pieces Stretching while sewing by
Charlotte
When sewing 2 pieces together (with the grain not bias), I've noticed the
top piece often times gets lengthened a bit during the process. I assume it
is due to a slightly uneven feed through the machine. I really hate trying
to get an accurate 1/4 in with my walking foot. Any other...

Very narrow borders for your quilt- EASY! by
Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.
Narrow borders are EASY if you know the secret! VBG I didn't want this to
get lost in Hanne's thread about how to quilt her darling Christmas
wallhanging. Somebody might miss it and it's such a simple way to get tiny
narrow borders- with accuracy.
First allow sufficient 'space' for the...

OT today's Silly Question by
SewVeryCreative
Do you mean "honeybees" as in the kind that buzz and sting??
You've just given me the willies - I'm allergic to bee stings!! :)
Hugs!!

I think I did it..... by
SewVeryCreative
Those things don't even use thread!! They have multiple needles that pretty
much tangle (though prettily so) the embellishments (wool roving, yarns,
etc) into the fabric - so it becomes a part of the fabric rather than just
sittin' on top of the fabric!
I think they're neat and I'd not turn one...

OT- Abandoned Cat - Happy Ending!! by
Mickie Swall[_2_]
An ad I placed in the local Freecycle yesterday
brought an immediate response from a young lady
who wanted the cat to give to an older friend who's
cat died last month. She came and picked her up
this afternoon, and now the dear kitty has a new home.
I'm so glad it doesn't have to go to a shelter...

received 4900 posts today! by
Susan Laity Price
I have been very busy (more on that later) and haven't read the news
group much. I opened the file this morning and thought the date was
11/15. After answering Polly's question about a good chair I realize
the date was 10/15. Sorry, didn't realize it had been a month since I
even downloaded...

Permission to or quilting"laws"...... by
SewVeryCreative
The last quilt that my daughter (aged 13) machine quilted, she used the
Greek Stitch!! Does that count?? :)
"Thou shalt not machine quilt with other than a straight stitch!"
Hugs!!

OT today's Silly Question by
SewVeryCreative
I think Polly may have hit it on the head ... my Grandma did grow up during
the Depression (have to capitalize it - she'd never forgive me if I didn't).
Moreover, my Grandpa died fairly young (I was 6 months old at the time) and
for a long time, she lived solely on his pension from the school (he...

CLARIFICATION/WAS New to the hobby by
SewVeryCreative
Hubby calls quiltin' a hobby, though not in my earshot ... but he's quick to
correct other when THEY (usually, our friends) call it a "hobby." He says
quilting's too durn expensive to be called a "hobby!" :)
He HAS used the words "addiction," "habit," "lifestyle choice,"...

My daughter (13) has a Brother BC-1000 ... and she LOVES it!! Does beautiful

OT I *still* hate computers! by
SewVeryCreative
What you do is this:
* Talk non-stop about how much a doggie would enrich your lives.
* Talk non-stop about how there's so many poor puppies out there desperately
needin' a home.
* Endlessly monologue about how the American Dream ALWAYS has a pet figured
prominently in there somewhere.
* State...

Serious Statement - long but important by
SewVeryCreative
Actually, Patti, I went to Amazon looking for your book and I found that BD
carries it yesterday. But I didn't buy it from them because they have a
not-so-stellar reputation (I read the feedback given to them by customers).
So, I would look at it this way: you may have "charged" a teeny bit...

back from Chicago by

My quilting buddy and I went to the Chicago show last Friday, doing a
1 pm workshop where we made a bright/zany flowery wall hanging with
Laura Wasilowski- (http://www.artfabrik.com/)
We had super expensive rooms at the hotel attached to the convention
center, paid for valet parking, tipped the guy...

OT teach me a word by
Polly Esther
Last year I learned bling and blog with your help. This week I've
discovered skew. For reasons totally obscure to my old brain, 'skew' is
what you want when you're trying to figure out how to reduce or make
smaller. At least that's how Windows, in its infinite wisdom, uses the
word.
Now....

I think I did it..... by
Sunny[_2_]
I'm buying an embellisher. I went to pick up my machine from the
wicked witch of the west and she had was showing another customer the
Babylock embellisher. I watched and then took a try. It's really good.
Better than the Viking or Janome either one -- I've played a good bit
with both. The Babylock...

To Alice in PA by
Sharon
I have to thank you, Alice, for recommending Sauders down in Pa ... we
found it without any problem at all - thanks to your instructions. I
couldn't believe it when we drove up and I saw this little bungalow,
thinking there's no way there's much here. Boy was I ever surprised
when I walked down...
