More reasons to sew by
[email protected]
I was invited to a grown-up slumber party. I figured I'd best not
wear that nightgown which tries to strangle me as I sleep, so I ran to
the store, grabbed two sets of cotton knit pjs on the gallop, ran home,
flung them into a small bag.
The pj party was at a house on the water---big deck, great...

Ag/farm Art workshop by
romanyroamer
Hi all,
Some of you may remember that apart from conventional sewing, I also Make
farm/Ag Art. You have to make a wearable garment (piece of Art) from things
that are grown, found or manufactured on a farm. This seems to be a purely
Australian, New Zealand Thing that is conducted at mainly Field...

'new' fabric by
AK&DStrohl
I was just perusing the www.denverfabrics.com site and I came across a
fabric type that I had never heard of before. Silk Gazar. It looks almost
cloudlike. Can't tell if it is translucent/transparent/opague. Soft hand
or fimer/crisper?
Does anyone know?

Singer 401 and 500 and Singer CG-500 by
McIntoshDonnie
Does anyone know if the presser feet and slant shank for the Singer 401
and 500 are interchangable with Singer's commercial grade model CG-500?
I'm looking to buy a machine lock side cutter to use on my 401 and
500, and the seller, who uses it on her CG-500, does not know if it is
interchangable....

Help with material for pants. by

Perhaps some folks here can help me with a problem I'm having locating
some items I need.
Here is my problem, we are issued uniform pants and they must be dry
cleaned. Now after some time the dry cleaning has worn the rubber out
that helps hold your shirt inside. This rubber is inside the...

Adding button holes and buttons to RTW by

Hi!
I usually lurk here and frequent the quilting group but I got a
question that fits more into the sewing side of things
I have a top (purchased, ready to wear) that I recently wore to a job
interview. I was just barely this side of comfortable with where the
buttons began and it has been...

Are they still sending these by email? I was signed up at one point,
then stopped getting email from them altogether, and now only seem to be
getting the sale notices (but not links to online coupons).

Recommendation for machine by
Chambers
Hi,
I need to purchase a sewing machine for occasional use.The machine will be
used for minor garment repairs and perhaps some craft projects. I don't want
to spend more than $200 on a machine.
Thanks in advance.

Halloween costumes by
Kathy Morgan
I would really like to make Halloween costumes for my husband and me
this year, but I have absolutely no ideas about what I'd like to make.
What are the rest of you planning? I'm hoping for some great inspiration
here. You'all are very talented and imaginative, so I'm open to
suggestions.

good question by
Val
I've been helping my jr. high aged neighbor girl with her sewing when she
gets stuck. I must say I really enjoy this. Not only the sewing part but we
do have some interesting conversations as we are undoing, doing up or
redoing parts of her projects. She was quite surprised to find out that boys...

Question book "Pattermaking for fashion design". by
Coquin
Hello,
I am having trouble with the Front bodice draft pattern of the book
"Pattermaking for fashion design".
Page 35 (in the 4th edition), figure 3, it says:
"J to K= Side length
Out 1 1/4 inches out from E line"
But side length from J does not give me K, so I need another measurement.
