no new posts? by
Linda[_4_]
I only have three posts for May, one on the second and two on the fourth. Is
everyone busy outside, or is something wrong with my newsreader,
eternal-september?

Hand Quilters by
Marlys in Indiana[_2_]
Just want to let all hand quilters know that if they would like to have an
actual thimble for the "under" hand while hand quilting, I came across a man
on Etsy that custome made one for me. I call it my "Under-handed
thimble". It is shaped much like a mushroom and works great. No more...

OT Mother's Day by
Di Maloney[_3_]
I know this is a bit early for some, but I just found this and it made me
cry and think about my Mother:
Happy Mother's Day In Heaven
How I'd love to touch your face
And talk with you once more
To hear your voice and see your smile
Watch you walk through my door.

from the 'other side' by
Polly Esther[_5_]
You already know that I am not a facebook fan but I go there to cherish the
baby pictures of kith and kin and to see what our absent quilters are up to.
Tonight we have an in person report from our Jeanne herself. Praise God,
she is doing well. Complaining. (That's always such a good sign.)...

Bringing up the rear by
Polly Esther[_5_]
It seems I'm the last one to get back home and Home Sweet Home it is. Yes,
the silly weather was so cold I started addressing Christmas cards. DH and I
have been to a reunion where lots of the folks were getting close to 80
years old. What a hoot! You can learn a heap about 'old age and...

OT but still sewing by
NightMist
Having finished a top I already had half done, I am back to not quilting.
I'm kinda creaky and would probably cut my fingers off if I tried using a
rotary cutter. I am hoping this will pass soon, though the doctors have
not had much to say about it.
I've been alternating between assorted thread...

what do you do at quilt guild retreat by
Kathy
Just wondering about quilt retreats and how they are done in different
guilds.
The guild I belong to has a retreat twice a year with between 40&60
attendees. They start on a Thursday and end on Sunday. We have door
prizes and there is an organized shop hop on the way up and back for
retreat...

Warning - on topic! by
barnyowl[_2_]
I've been busy moving 'stuff' away from all my windows in preparation for
the installation of new windows soon - it is not as easy as it sounds. I
haven't used any of my sewing machines for several months because of eye
troubles so I didn't notice this particular problem until I was packing up...

OT- Beds for our Military Dogs by
Jill -Critter Comforts
Hi All,
Just wanted to share a new project that I'm working along side of
making the blankets for animal rescues. I'm making thick matts, not what
I call a bed, but much better to lay on that the hot sand or cold
ground.
I got involved with a local charity, www.thedesertangel.org ,...

update on my health and sanity by
Susan Laity Price
Thank you for the many cards, prayers and good wishes from my RCTQ
friends. It has been very encouraging to know there are so many people
that care.
I am gaining strength each week. Next week I start cardiac rehab.
After 2 1/2 weeks in the hospital and another 3 weeks laying around
the house my...

Yall still cool over your way? For a week I've been ready to put up the
Christmas tree and bake goodies! For a few days it has been cool, dark and
rainy looking here in the foothills of SC. I haven't finished any Christmas
sewing! It will surly pour rain within the hour.

Happy Dance by
Rose in CA[_3_]
Michael's quilt top is finished. "To be quilted soon."
Photo is in my Flickr stream: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rose-morgan/7112682483/in/photostream
I used a focus fabric that he liked as the inspiration and made it
sort of "planned scrappy" with four each of the dark, medium and light
browns...

Tooting my Horn by

Six months ago my quilt guild entrusted me with the job of re-establishing our guild's web presence. This is a project I have now been working on together with a website authoring company with an objective to bring our website kicking and screaming into the 21st century. The old one was seriously...

OT??? Make your own laundry soap by
Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.
I am not necessarily a fan of the Duggar fannily and don't care to debate their choices (VBG) but I am going to try their recipe for laundry soap. In my research I found that you can add 1/2 cup of baking soda with the Borax and it will eliminate the need for fabric softener. I also read you...

OT ? covering a new toy by

I have a new laptop . . . although it may be something else. A small (but
not very) computer thingie we can take on trips so I can read email, visit
with you all and other stuff.
Two questions: I'm thinking it needs a cover with pockets to hold the
wireless mouse and the charger cord. ...

quilt show by
Kate T.
Haven't been on here for a long while, but just had to tell you all
about the show in Slidell, LA. No pictures as my camera went bonkers.
The quilts were all so beautiful. Real eye candy. Mostly machine
quilted although a hand quilted one won second place.
A lot of trupunto and applique this...

supposing you had a bigger budget... by
Anne Rogers[_3_]
So, definitely getting a new sewing machine soon, looks like I had
sufficient to get something like a Janome 6600, BabyLock Quest, or
Viking Sapphire (not the top one with the thread snipper), along with
needed accessories.
We had an unexpected windfall and though I'm not planning to add it to...
