Aurifil vs Mettler thread by [email protected]
I know that Aurifil is two-ply ve Mettler's three-ply. But in practical terms, what happens when I sew, what are the differences between the two threads? And then, if there is improvement, is it worth the extra cost for you? Thanks!

OT hurricane NOT just me by Polly Esther[_5_]
It's probably not something you do all the time but I'm wondering if our friends north and east of us are paying any mind to Hurricane Isaac. Some of the 'projections' aim this rascal over through Missouri and then to go persecute the north east USA. Polly

OT And away we go! by Polly Esther[_5_]
Mr. Esther, the ants and the nearest oil refinery believe that Hurricane Isaac is aiming for us. We know the drill about batteries, prescriptions and full gas tanks. That part is easy. Cooking the good stuff in the freezer since we may not be able to 'hold' it is easy. Herding 8,500 gators to...

Ten minutes to Sew by Polly Esther[_5_]
Remember that from Sewing with Nancy? Bologna. It takes me 10 minutes to clear a path and sit at the sewing machine. However . . . I have discovered that 6 1/2 + 6 1/2 does equal 12 1/2 eventually. I'm putting together bits and pieces for a truly scrappy quilt of everything in the bins. ...

from Larisa by Gen
Larisa Vann Ok, it's easier to post here than to try to get back to the "regular" newsgroup, so if one of you would repost it there for me, it would be greatly appreciated. This morning, I had pretty major surgery on my left big toe. Simplest way to explain it was that my big toe was...

I now can cut fabric while sitting down........even fussy cut, no less. Thanks, Mz Polly, for suggesting it. Today, we took the back-up SM (garage sale, Kenmore w/cams) for a 'can you fix it' to a local fella and 3 hours later he called to say it was finished! What was really neat is he took...

I'm back!!! by Butterfly-Wings
Life has been topsy turvy for the last month. Have had 3 funerals since Memorial Weekend--2 relatives from the same family. Sure hope it settles down before too long. Latest Feetz update: I do _not_ have to see the Ortho Surgeon Dr again but will continue with the regular Ortho Dr. He is...

OT more me Me MEEEE ! eyes by Polly Esther[_5_]
Happy day, oh happy day. Both my distance vision bionic lens and my only one-week old close vision lens are settling in and getting better by the hour. How you would laugh at when I walk the yorkie about sunset. Have to wear a hat and sunglasses since I'm so not used to seeing light....

OT Just for fun... by NightMist
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3HkHWIW70w My DH is in there. Two clips of him playing the dulcimer line, sitting out back in front of the berry patch, and one of him playing violin in the kitchen. Some of those folks look like they are playing at gunpoint! (G) NightMist
