A Politically Correct Christmas Poem by

Please forgive me if you've seen this a dozen times already........
A Politically Correct Christmas Poem
Twas the night before Christmas and Santa's a wreck...
How to live in a world that's politically correct?
His workers no longer would answer to "Elves",
"Vertically Challenged" they were...

A Praise about a Nice Supplier ... by
Julie L.
Hi to all,
Here's my little story about something that happened and generous people
who made a bad thing, become a good thing.
Recently an order I made was lost/stolen in mail again (this is second time
in 10 months !) ... and I had no insurance 'cause on a 40$ order, 20$
shipping (to Canada)...

A productive day - what's everyone up to? by
Patti
Design wise, here's what I've accomplished today.
1. Designed and finished a FWP, Bali silver & abalone necklace
2. Re-designed a coral, bamboo, onyx, gold bead necklace. Doing
another one for a customer who ordered the wrong size.
I wish I could figure out how to post pictures, but .....
Now, I'm...

a proper intro? -- long by
Peggy
Recently Margie asked whether I'd posted an intro. I told her that I'd
briefly introduced myself when I joined the group and promised to post a
'proper intro.' For those of you who are interested, here goes:
My name is Peggy Galdi, and I live in a tiny town in south Georgia with my
husband of 22...

A question about cubes by
Anna W.
I received bead money for Valentine's Day. I used some of it to
purchase 3mm cube beads from the LBS. I was disappointed with the
irregular shapes and had to cull way too many.
Today I received an eBay order for 3mm cubes and they're just as
irregular as the beads purchased at the LBS. I suppose...

A question for lampworkers by
Diana Curtis
I ask this question in total ignorance of the processes you go thru to make
lampworked beads. Almost total. I know there is melted glass involved, and
mandrels, and release stuff....and flame..
My question is, what are the most labor intensive type of beads? I see
florals, and stripes that appear...

a question for the wire workers of the group by
[email protected]
Ok. I've never really worked much with wire. Not at all, in fact. I
barely even work with headpins/eyepins/ect.
So a customer requested some earrings that may require a bit of wire
wrapping. I'd be using 14K gold filled wire, about 28 gauge (the beads
are 4mm "dancing" pearls with teensy holes)....

A Question for Those Who Buy Beads by
Kimberly
I sell beads on Ebay, and every once in a while, I buy some as well.
I spend quite a bit of time wording my auctions, and used to spend
quite a bit more time at it than I do now. You know, a good
description, size, color, whether the beads would make a good
bracelet, necklace or focal, etc. I try...

A Question for Those Who Buy Lampwork and Use Credit Cards by
Karen Kreider
I know I'm having a reactionary moment about the Ebay prices, etc.
However, I've been considering ditching Paypal for quite a while. Paypal
works okay for online sales, but does me no good whatsoever doing shows.
I haven't BEEN doing many shows recently, but I'm making plans to do
more, more often,...

A question for Tink by
F. F.
Tink in an earlier message about kilns you mentioned having a toolbox kiln.
I"ve seen a picture of one in an instruction book but where can they be
found? I thought I'd ordered every jewlery, tool, etc catalog and have yet
to see one for sale. I am still trying some websites but no luck...

a question for you beading types.... by
just me
I have a question for all you beaders, or maybe several.
As some of you have noticed, I make pressed flower arrangements. I am now experimenting with ways to
make jewelry with the pressed flowers by encasing them in clear form fitting
gook . As I'm working on these I'm sort of
seeing that...

A quick hello by
Marisa Cappetta
Hi all, I've not been on the group much because, as you can imagine,
preparations for the move to NZ are full steam ahead. Brook flies out next
Sunday to start house hunting etc.
Just to make things interesting, we are being married on Sunday the 7th of
December prior to flying out on the 10th....

A quick question by
Steve Lamb
My mother-in-law recently opened a small bead shop in Keizer, OR (it's
next to Salem). She has been doing reasonably well but we still have
a lot of questions. There are likely also some questions we don't yet
know enough to ask.
I have followed this newsgroup for awhile now and believe...

A Quick Tucson Report by
Karen Kreider
Hi everyone!
Well, the Tucson Bead Frenzy is well underway. G It's been a bit slow
out at Best Bead II (and damn, f-ing cold in our outdoor tent space) but
it's been fun. We've had some major sightings, including Loren Stump, my
personal hero, Henry Grimmett (Glass Alchemy dude), and a newly...

A quick Tucson Update by
Karen_AZ
Hi everyone! This is short & sweet (relative to me anyway).
Got set up with Debi Washburn (RedDogDesigns) yesterday. The space looks
great and there's plenty of room for our beads and even some jewelry.
Chatted with some other beadmakers, including Carolyn Driver and her
cutiepie daughter, Mavis...

A quick update: bead related and OT by
Marisa Cappetta
Hello everyone. I've been very busy the last couple of months, teaching,
working on a couple of commissions and working at the store.
Remodelling the studio was hard work which I had to finish on my own because
Brook came down with a nasty dose of flu. It's now a light, sunny, big space
which is...

You know how ya'll bid on a beautiful bead, knowing that you will be outbid,
its just a matter of time? Well, sometimes we get bonked on the head with
the wand of the good Bead Fairy and this was one time. I have here a lovely
lady bead from SJ. Its just scrummy!!! I have loved these beads ever...
