toika looms by
Els van Dam
Does anyone have information on Toika weaving looms from Finland. I have
done a search on the internet for a friend, who got a Toika loom in bits
and pieces. So far we have found dealers in the States, but no
manufacturer in Finland. I work with toika temples when weaving, but have
no...

I sure love the picture of the skeleton key. Where did you get the pattern?
I have a skeleton key from my house and it'd be great to make something like
that to display the key. Carol In WI

Historical Knit or Crochet Patterns? by
mdemama
Hi Everyone,
We have a pioneer farm that shows what life was like in the 1800s for the
settlers who came here. I'd like to make maybe some shawls to donate so the
"interpreters" can wear them. But I don't know where I can look to find
historically accurate patterns for that time period. I just...

found it.....was hat pattern for Mom by
Linda [email protected]
Hi everyone,
I found the hat pattern for Mom. Here is the link:
http://www.knittingfairy.com/freeTeaCozyHat.htm
The hat she had on today made out of that pattern was done in a soft
mohair type yarn and it looked great and has a nice fit. She doesn't
put the pom pom on.

I just tried the spit-splice join by
[email protected]
Wow....that was such a neat way to join the yarn. (and I used water
instead of spit :) ). I didn't trust it the first time so I wanted to
do it again. I found the join was actually stronger than the yarn.
I'm learning a lot with this shawl. I never thought I would like
working with lace weight...

Jenn W.
To all of you expert and veteran sock knitters out there, please HELP!
I'm familiar with the technique of knitting with dpns, but for some

Knitting story - my mom by
Soozergirl
I'd like to share this story with you:
My mom was quite the knitter - she was a speed knitter, didn't look at her
work and her fingers flew. According to her sisters, during WWII people
would knit garments for the troops. The American Red Cross distributed yarn
to knitters. When you went for your...

hat pattern for Mom by
Linda [email protected]
Hi everyone,
My Mom is trying to find a pattern for a hat she made a few years ago.
It's knit on the vertical, has rows of knit (looks like maybe 6), then
rows of purl. It looks like a typical toque style hat with a cuff.
She thinks it's a Beehive pattern. Any ideas?
thanks, Linda

Going from circular needles to double pointed by
deMoMo
Hello again everyone -
I am working my hat (the one with the fun fur) on circular needles. I have
worked with DPs before, but never gone from one to the other. What are your
recommendations? Should I slide all of the stitches (32 of them) onto the
DPs and then continue knitting? Should I knit...
