spinning by
Bibe
I've recently taken up knitting again after a few year break, and was
perhpas thinking of spinning my own yarn, but I have never done this
before, and frankly, I don't really know much about spinning.
Would anyone know of a great website or book that could teach me more
about this? While I have...

March and April 6x6 received by
bibe
Oh my goodness. I have received the most beautifull squares
from SueCD (March partner) and Christine (April partner)
today. I can only aspire to make as beautifull squares as
those are.
From Christine I received a lovely neon green basket weave
like knit square, and a bright yellow crochet square....

looking at websites for explenations on how to do things, but it went
fairly well. I always wanted to learn to crochet, and it is all because of
the 6x6...

Crochet border by
bibe
Let's say I have a knitted square, and I want to make a single crochet
border around it. How do I make the corner stay a square shape, and not so
rounded? Does that make sense?
I have seen some instructions such as this: "working 3 sc in the center st
of each corner". What does that mean? Would...

Binding off for garment by
bibe
What is a good way to have a stretchy bind off for a circular garment? The
particlar piece I want to do at the momnet is a hat that has been knitted
from top to bottom, but it could be for any garment. I admit that I had
usually not payed much attention to how I would bind off, but my bind off
row...

hat sizing help by
bibe
I am knitting a ear flap hat for the bf. I made myself one a little while
back and it was too big, and he wants his 'just right' He says he wants it
to fit snug, but not stretch too much. He also wants it a bit pointy, and
not so much rounded like regular watch caps. Anyway, I don't need a
pattern,...

Technique to 'rip' a few rows by
Bibe
Is there a special technique to rip away a few rows? I am knitting a hat
in the round, and it is a quite a few rows too long. Instead of just
taking my needles out and pulling gently on the yarn until I have undone
a few rows, are there any other techniques? I am currently on circular
needles, but...

Potholders Mirjam by
bienchat
Tamar is right, the Sugar and Cream is a heavy cotton. I think it is
used mostly for kitchen-type things like potholders and dish scrubs.
I made my water bottle holder out of it - it held up well and
insulates my water bottle very well, to the point that theres a bit of
ice still in the water...

Potholders Mirjam by

Hi Mirjam: This new computer set up is different I still haven't
figured everything out yet........The new potholders were a sort of
*take along* project for me. My younger son is having his wisdom
teeth out, not all at the same time, so I've had plenty of time in the
dentists office to work on...
