New Poly "Artist" by
Kim
Hello to Everyone!
I have just (in the past two weeks) discovered the art of polymer clay and
have been playing like mad. Now, it is time for me to settle down and get
to work making some real pieces, at least I hope.
My main interest thusfar is in jewelry. Yesterday, I tried my first...

fire large pieces by
ksmeltzer
Hello all,
This is my first post to this group and I am looking for a little help.
I am new to polymer clay but have done 3 dimensional arts in wood
carving, clay sculpting and computer graphics for a while. Anyway, I
own a company that does home restorations and themes in which we build
a lot of...

Old Fimo by
Fenrir Enterprises
This newsgroup is abnormally quiet lately...
Forgot just how tough original Fimo is to condition. Gave up on trying
to condition it (it hasn't partially cured, it's just /tough/, so I
can't just get rid of it...) and chopped it into tiny bits, and have
it coated in Sculpey diluent. So I'll have...

recommendations for PC brand by
Sugarface
Hello everyone,
I've been lurking for a few months, but this is my first post. I've been
experimenting with polymer clay but the only 2 types available in my
city are Sculpey III and Fimo Classic. I haven't tried Fimo yet because
a friend of mine said it's pretty tough to condition and she ended...

Best fabric for (homemade) buffing wheels? by
[email protected]
Can anyone suggest what sort of fabric to use for a homemade buffing
wheel for my tiny little Craftsman rotary tool? I've made one from some
cotton fabric -- left over from hubby's pajamas -- and it (kinda) works,
but it has lost much of its coherence quite quickly. I've read that
denim or...

Best Way to Model this Shape? by
Greg Krynen
For an even wedge try this...
Leave one side at table height (flat) on opposite side of clay (base of
wedge) have a stack of cards or other solid surface. Use a brayer or other
roller to smooth the clay along this incline creating an even wedge shape.
To match the curve...
Use similiar method to...

Sticky Question by
Arondelle
What sort of glue do you recommend for gluing PC to fabric?
E600 doesn't like porous stuff and has a tendancy to let go after a
while (like after stuffing a doll), and white glue (Tacky Glue, Elmer's,
etc.) doesn't like the PC.

Accidental curing? by
Polly S.
Have a question...
During the hurricane my workbench got the heaviest deluge that came
through the roof but workbench, tools, pasta machine etc were all
salvageable...
I am not sure about my blocks of clay though. They were closed up in a
large tackle box on a shelf under the workbench and stayed...

sculpted face by
cAndRaley
Hi, I know I'm a stranger here, pretty much, but I thought I'd show 'n' tell
a sculpted face I finished recently:
http://photos3.blogger.com/img/209/2894/320/100_3912.jpg
It's the first one of this size, done on a heart-shaped Altoid tin (so it's
about 4 inches tall). More like a bas relief, I...

I'm thinking of getting into clay modeling. Could someone tell me
where I can pick up some plasticine? For instance, does Walmart sell
it?

Slight mishap in sanding... by
glumone
I just had to "share" this with y'all. You'll understand.
Yesterday I made a lovely "brain" cane, just lovely. I used the cane --
the *whole* cane -- to cover a glass bottle. It turned out to be just
-- well -- lovely.
Today I sanded it. Since it was a bit lumpy, I started with 220 grit,
then...
