Attention Jan Lennie! (Re Norfolk) by
Jan Lennie
Thanks Pat ,
I've actually been to Norfolk quite a lot - we used to go there once or
twice a year before Ellie (3 year old) was born . We just fancied a change
and went to Devon and Cornwall the past few years so really it's 'back to
Norfolk' rather than a new visit . Thanks for the links though...

Embroidery novice seeks guidance by
Betty Vereen Hill
I want very much to learn embroidery, and I am hopeful that some kind person
may offer guidance and tips on how I might begin. The idea of trying to
learn from a book is a bit frightening for me, as I have always learned most
easily from person-to-person instruction, but the fact that I do not...

Phew, it`s hot here! by
Bea Whitson
Pat,
I can't believe the high temperatures everyone is experiencing across the
pond lately. Over 100F in so many countries. Take care, and try and stay
cool. Hope you and DH have some extra cold packs to use on yourselves too.
Some of the cold packs sold here in the states are a bright blue in...

Carrying Projects by
Jacquard_The_Ripper
What are the best bags for carrying projects around and where can I
find them? I need something to hold my scroll frame, floss,
directions, etc. I hate to drop everything into my large tapestry
bag, feels like it's dropping to a black hole.
Thanks,
Cynthia

Accounting terms Was: Notification to All by
JAKL
Squirreling away refers to selling assets for below market value to a friend
or relative to get the assets off the books.
I wasn't aware of this particular reference. Whenever I've heard the term
"squirreling away", I thought of Mom and Grandm a - "I can't throw this out, I
might need it...

Federal Period - Embroidery by
Dianne Lewandowski
I did some hunting up and discovered garments with lovely surface
embroideries during this period. Lots of silk threads, and especially
silk chenilles. Including a footstool (wool on linen in petit point)
featuring a stag as the centerpiece and a flowered border with a wool
fringe.

Beaded Santa Claus by

Some time ago someone posted a web site that had kits? of beaded items using
the peyote stitch. One was a Santa and had the most amazing detail. Does
anyone remember this or know of the web site? I lost my bookmark. I tried
google and evidently I do not know what to call it.
Thanks for your...

Has anyone had any experience with an: "Offer to Give Secured Property

reserved and think it might be exactly what a particular patron is looking
for. She is in danger of having a particular item repossessed and this...

I know that in the past there have been two or three
needlepoint cruises every year. Haven't gotten any

Mallorcan Stitchery by

On Holiday in Mallorca (Spanish Island) last week I saw some ladies
embroidering table linen with tiny crochet shaped needles rather than
sewing needles. Sadly my spanish was too limited to have a meaningful
conversation with them; can anyone here point me in the direction of
this craft please :...

Light Reading . . . includes needlework by
Dianne Lewandowski
A very dear occasional poster on RCTN sent me a book to read. It was
such an "easy" read, a good story, and the heroin is passionate about
needlework. So, if you enjoy this sort of things, you might want to
pick up Kathleen Gilles Seidel's "Please Remember This." A little
mystery, a little love,...

Stitch Version 1.2 Question by
Brenda Lewis
Piggybacking: Is there any way to print in any mode other than symbols?
I've experienced this same problem with the backstitching. This
creates a lot of clutter especially when the backstitching is all in one
color so those symbols are unnecessary.

keeping work clean idea by

I just wanted to share that I discovered last night that my whole 16"
scroll frame fits easily into a standard pillow case. I like that
better than wrapping it in a cloth to keep it clean.

Survey Question: ages of needleworkers? by
wild
Hi all,
after reading one or two posts in The Garden, there seemed to be a
repetetive debate on the expected age of a needleworker. I assume that
most posting here are in the 40+ age range, but, purely out of interest,
I would like to do a survey - and this includes all lurkers who donīt
normally...
