Where best to stay in DesMoines? by
Susan Laity Price
A group of friends are planning to spend several days at the AQS show
in Des Moines this October. I just called the AQS office and they say
there isn't a "headquarters hotel". All hotels are working together
for this event. The AQS web site lists six hotels within a mile which
is what we prefer. We...

I think I am an addict by
John
How do you know if you are a quilting addict? Let me tell you what I
think.
1. I haven't sewn any clothing patterns for about 6 months. I used to
sew a lot of clothes, and now I never even think about it. I probably
will at some time in the future, but right now, it doesn't even cross
my mind.

Piecing Together The Scraps by
Melanie Rimmer
I wasn't sure whether to post this or not, but I wrote an article on my
blog last week titled "Piecing Together the Scraps" about the strange
philosophical ideas that go through my head when I'm quilting, and about
how life is like a scrappy patchwork quilt. I thought some of you might
be...

MAQF - and Long Time No Post! by
Kim E
Hello again, everyone!
I've been lucking periodically, but life has been busy. I started a
new job about a year ago - the 20 hour a week job was more like 32
until recently. DS is happy as a clam in college majoring in math and
physics, he's writing up a paper for publication in a math journal...

Basting techniques? (was: least favorite part of quilting) by
SewVeryCreative[_3_]
It seemed like everyone hates the process of basting quilts the *most* ...
so I was wondering, what is YOUR preferred method of basting? It seems that
there's oodles of techniques out there, so what works best for YOU?
For me, I usually do the REALLY time-consuming method of hand-basting...

Yesterday... by
Julia in MN
.... was my birthday. We headed up to the Twin Cities for brunch with DS
and his family & DD and her family. But first a stop at the LQS near
DS's house. There I bought a dark blue batik with gold flecks -- perfect
for the "night sky" background of the wall hanging on the cover of
"Adoration...

Sharon
Thank you Bev in Texas and Karen in Charleston, IL for your
contribution to my HUG quilt I'll be making for my friend. They are
both very pretty - love seeing all the purples in everyone's stashes.
Thanks so much - it truly is appreciated.

I bought fabric by
Sunny[_2_]
I've been dreaming over this fabric line for a couple months now
http://www.fabricshack.com/cgi-bin/Store/store.cgi and decided at 2
a.m. this morning to stop drooling and start buying. I did it.
I've never bought an entire line before, usually only a set of FQs if
I'm getting matching fabric, or a...

A funny for you by
John
Here is a story that I received from a friend who has a wicked sense
of humor. There are a couple of words that are not quite acceptable in
polite society, but the pertain to the gist of the story, and will
probably not offend everybody.

Newbie here by
Wickiup
Yep, newbie to your group and to this nntp.aioe.org server.
I use several different pay servers but this one is simplicity in full.
The issue which draws me (read wifey) here is the double wedding ring
quilting pattern. I read the thread of a few days ago which pertained to
that topic and feel...

I'm reducing my stash and it must have been Divine Intervention - I
came across your address while doing so! I have a pile of stuff to
send you providing you still want stuff. I just had a couple of
questions.
1. Can you use batting scraps? It's all warm and natural. Or at
least cotton...

OT - recognizing bad posts before you open them by
Musicmaker
I've found that checking the profile of a sender (I use google groups
so this is an option) will clue me in on the poster. trolls will have
no posts or few posts listed in their profile.
Musicmaker, who has updated her profile to even include a picture!

Just so you all know - I guess I have 2 accounts - different email and
