suggestions on type/manufacturer/stores to buy from? I'd also be interested

Alex Hargreaves
Hi,
I've been trying to sell my kiln a large Hymus 3M 2 phase kiln. However
i found out from one of the engineers i was trying to sell it to that the

attack it with a hammer but it explains why no-one will touch it. Have I...

If I am firing stoneware in a propane kiln of 8 cubic feet (something I am
thinking about) does anyone have a ball park idea of how much propane might
be required per firing?
Sort of related to this, and apologies for going over old ground, I am
interested in the idea of the "greenest" approach...

single firing ash glazes by
ali
Does anyone out there single fire ash glazes? As far as getting the
slop to stay on the pot there are no problems, the problem is that as,
in my experience, ash glazes are nicest when applied nice and thick,
the glaze water soaks onto the pot wall and causes cracking. I'm
guessing that I could get...

performance?
what is the drive system?

ash glazes by
alistair
does anyone have any advice concerning ash glazes? The particular
problem I am encountering is when applying the glaze to the bisc,
having it retract and crack up, this can (not always) make for bare
patches. The problem seems to be mosre so when superposing (in this
case on a tenmokou).
Any advice...

fire bricks by
Alpinekid
Hi,
I just got a bunch of "fire bricks" given to me. I'm guessing
that they might be refractory bricks and good to make a kiln with.
I dont know much about the different types of bricks.
I seem to have three kinds,
1) brand new, bright white, sort of light in weight, and fragile
2) new darker,...
