books - on topic by
Cheryl Isaak
Well - when I was bemoaning the cost of finding the two books DD needed
to read over the summer (since she thought she'd take them to various
camps so I didn't want the library copies), my neighbor at work
mentioned "Thrift Books" which features books starting at $3.95 US and
free media mail...

Julien MacDonald Gown goes on auction! Cheap! by
[email protected]
This beautiful long evening dress was generously donated by the
designer and is taken from his AW 06 collection. This gown is
handcrafted from black stretch satin with an embroidered strap and is
worth £4,000! If all that wasn't enough, Julien has even offered to
tailor the dress according to the...

An "art" composition question - reflections off of water. by
KCat
I've been working on a couple of pieces. Finished one, the other is in work.
A Seagull and a Pelican respectively. in looking at the light blue Kreinik
blending filament I picked up yesterday, it seemed like it might be nice to
highlight ever so slightly some areas of the distant waterline. But...

OT - story with a moral by
Bruce
Whenever I feel a bit older than I really am I always think of this story:
A wealthy old lady decides to go on a photo safari in Africa, taking
Cuddles, her faithful but rather ancient poodle, along for the company.
One day the poodle starts chasing butterflies and before long, Cuddles
discovers...

OT mostly - I am home! by
Cheryl Isaak
And quite grateful to be here.
We drove down to Philly to have Seder with DH's extended family. His family
didn't make a big deal out of it; both of us had only been to Seders in
college. (the one I went to was quite a dour affair) The kids really
enjoyed it as the whole evening was quite...

Historical use of bellpulls by
[email protected]
I know there are many in the ranks who have studied needlework history.
I'm wondering if the bellpulls we now make are based on the old-time
bellpulls the ladies of the house would ring to summon the housekeeper,
butler, whatever.
I am a collector of bells and got to thinking it might be kind of...

Looking for a web site by
[email protected]
There is a website which I think is from a magazine and I think it is
based in the UK. In any event, they had some free patterns, one was a
jack in the beanstalk, one was a topiary sampler. I think they also
ran monthly contests. Does anyone know which website this is?
TIA

Thanks by
[email protected]
I just wanted to say thanks to everybody who offered advice and ideas
about what an LNS should offer. I've been out of touch this week
because DS was off school two days with a high fever, and then the
internet connection went out, and required a service call. Everything,
including DS, is now up...

Cash quick links and the law by
Irene
There is a posting, not the first, about how you can get total
strangers to send you cash. To get the $5 you post $250 into your
paypal account...The last posting just asked for the $$$ and claimed
it was a "service".
So don't forget the other side of "service": you become self-employed
and the...

OT mixed up presents by

Having enjoyed reading some of the humerous postings on this newsgroup I
thought readers might enjoy this contribution, originally sent to me by
a friend in Australia:
A young man called Ron wanted to buy his new girlfriend a Christmas
present. As they hadn't been seeing each other for very long...

Help with pattern using different yarn by
Dawn0
At my knitting group today, someone mentioned a site in which there are
conversions for changing yarn when knitting a sweater. ie: If a pattern
uses worsted wgt and you want to use dk, it show the yarn amount and
figures all the differences for sleeves, neck, dec, etc.
I would like the site, in...

Need Tupperware by

KMC,
Perhaps I can help you if you still need. If you let me know the mold
number (the raised number usually 3-4 digits sometimes with a dash) I
can see if I can get it for you.

I'd fallen into a website and listed on it was something about a Spring Cruise
