Drill for rocks by Mick
I'm looking for suggestions on a drill that is capable of drilling river rock, most probably granite. Do I need a special drill for this? I know that diamond drill bits will be necessary. What would your recommendations be? Also will a masonary saw be adequet for cutting large stones. Thanks

It's a very sophisticated art and air carvings are very beautiful. Especially nitrogen and argon are good for carving. Do you want to learn it, too?

best size to mill basswood for carvers by Bruce H
I have some basswood logs to mill up and I was thinking of saving them for carvers. What is a good utility dimension for this group. I was thinking of 6 X 8 X 48 inches. I would anchor seal the ends and sticker them on a pallet in my barn. How does 6 X 8 sound? I need to stay uniform for the...

Hi Gang - Glad to see some newcomers joining in. This discussion group has been going downhill for a long time. Maybe with new blood we can recover. Responses have been slow coming. I must admit I'm one of the biggest offenders. I see one of the responses came from Escondido. I came up from...

Chain Saw Carving by David Bennett
In an effort to generate more activity in this group besides spamming, how about a discussion on chain saw carving. Has anyone here ever tried it? I understand chain saws are quite dangerous in the wrong hands (isn't everything?) and certain kinds of bars are used for carving. I found it difficult...

Peach Pit/Seed Monkey by Jack Casuso
If you have access to old Chip Chats volumes, two might be of use to you. Sept/Oct '94 has an article titled "Peach Pit Carving" and the May/June issue has an article titled "Peach Seed Carving". I don't know it they would help, I didn't subscribe to Chip Chats until much later than those issues. ...
