Looking for better source for 14/20 GF wire by Jim Caldwell
Rio Grande charges 21.00 per ounce for any size/type of 14/20 gold-filled wire. I am thinking there is probably a cheaper source than Rio. Any ideas?

Selling Diamonds/Jewellery by JimC
My Wife and I recently appraised some jewellery left to her from her mother. It was appraised at $23-24,000 CDN as a set. (I haven't looked at the actual certificates to see what items are worth what, as the appraisal was finished today, and I haven't picked the stuff up yet) I have two...

Stopping a rock tumbler by Robin
Is it possible to stop a rock tumbler for a while and then turn it back on? My daughter received one of those cheap walmart rock tumblers for her birthday, and I'm trying to figure out where to set it up where the noise won't be bothersome. The best place is our garage, but there's a band that...

Carl-Pearl-Copper Sheet by Raane
Hi Carl, I've been meaning to get back and assuage your curiosity about attaching the pearls to the earrings. Unfortunately, I became overly curious about setting up my 'puter for "web sharing" as yours is. My computer, although a Mac, is not a friendly creature and hates being asked to do...

Cabachon saw/grinder/polisher combo recommendations by DesertFlea
I'm not too new and have taken a few cab classes at my local club and want to buy a combo machine for home. I've looked the the Lortone, Covington, and the Barranca 6" Diamond Cab Combo Workshop. The Barranca is the most expensive but comes with all the diamond blade/belts/discs etc.. that I...

Q: Casting Palladium ? by Christopher Robert Carlson
Hello, I have a couple who would like to consider cast palladium wedding rings instead of cast platinum. They are primarily attracted to the unusualness of the metal and I am sure the lower price and density are a nice bonus. I have not worked with palladium before, and I have a few questions...

Natural Gas/Air Torch a good choice? by Mark Gifford
Hi there! My wife and I are setting up a small jewelry shop in her new art studio. We've had the plumber install a NG connection to enable us to hook up a torch. I did a lot of jewelry in High School, and we always used NG and a compressor hooked up to regular air. Is this still a good choice...

Connecting a Pearl Bead to copper sheet by Raane

Oxidising and Stones by Charlie
I'd like to oxidise a bracelet in liver of sulphur, but it had rose quartz included in the design. Will the solution destroy the stones? What about others? Are any safe to be treated in this way? Charlie. -- http://www.kallistos.co.uk
