My one day as a WalMart greeter by KJ
My 1 day of employment So after landing my new job as a Wal-Mart greeter, a good find for many retirees, I lasted less than a day...... About two hours into my first day on the job a very loud, unattractive, mean-acting woman walked into the store with her two kids, Yelling obscenities at them...

King Sized Summer-Weight Quilt finished by Michelle C[_3_]
My mom and I started this quilt together in the summer of 2007. We'd hoped to have it done by the spring of 2008.... LOL! Well, we're only a year off. The quilt uses the Oregon Trail block and has a star themed fabric running throughout, so we call it Starry Night on the Oregon Trail. The...

Did something crazy! by simpleseven
Okay, maybe not clinically insane, but for me a little bit crazy....are you ready?....I went and bought a small camper trailer. I am soooo very excited! Having two deaths (my DH and my DD) in the last five months has not been easy on my son and I. To say the last several years has been easy...

Arts & Crafts Color Palette for EQ6 by [email protected]
Having no luck finding any kind of Arts & Crafts color palette for use with EQ6, I assembled/built my own. Searching the web for a palette was difficult enough - the only decent one I found (If anyone knows of others, please drop me a line & let me know) was the Sherwin-Williams Roycroft Arts &...

I'm becoming more and more fascinated by art quilting using mixed media. Started making ATC's, and reading magazines like Art Quilts and Cloth Paper scissors. Anyone here into the same thing? Musicmaker

OT cleaning with silk by Polly Esther[_5_]
I just received this from a place where I buy my silk fabric online: Did you know that silk is the most ideal cloth to clean fine optical lenses, CD's, eyewear, and all those little screens on cell phones and other digital devices? This is because silk is by far the softest natural fabric...

Ives Color Wheel by [email protected]
DW (Am I saying that right?) introduced me to the Ives Color Wheel this evening (I was showing her the color toy app in the "fun color wheel" thread...) Sorry if this is a "duh" question, but is anyone doing anything with this concept (put forth in Wolfram's book, "Color Play") or is it so basic...

OT - Washer & Dryer Recommendation by Sharon
I know quite a few of you have the front load washers and dryers. Since I need these appliances, I'm wondering what your recommendations would be as to capacity, brand name, etc. ... what do I want and what do I not want? Sharon (N.B.)

OT gardening/mulch question by Leslie& The Furbabies in MO.
I am now living in town for the first time in nearly 30 years. To try to be a good neighbor, I am using a grass catcher on my mower and keeping the yard tidy- as opposed to living out in the country and leaving the cuttings on the 'lawn'. I made a HUGE compost pile with all the dead leaves...

Kind of Blue by John
With profound apologies to Miles Davis the great jazz trumpeter, and one of his most famous albums, I give you "Kind of Blue". I swore I would never do a tumbling block quilt again, but that was last year, and I guess my memory is getting foggy so I thought it would be a great way to use up an...

Got to meet my newest great-nephew today! Justin is almost a month old, and a beautiful boy. We met with DH's sister, husband, daughter, son-in-law and 3 boys at my SMIL's nursing home today. The two older boys seem to really enjoy their baby brother. Each of the older boys received a quilt for...
