Maker Mark Stamps by
Jerry Smith
Anyone have a good source for having a makers mark stamp made, I will
need one soon, the old is being held together with glue and wire. The
man who made my stamp died about 4 years ago.
Thanks,
Jerry

Maker's Marks by
carlDOTwest
I have a friend who has a laser engraver. I recently gave her
a .GIF of my mark and had her burn it into the end of a 3/16"
punch (in reverse of course).
I have yet to try it on something ferrous but it makes a lovely
mark on copper and silver.
I'm trying to gauge what interest there might be in...

Makers mark - Sterling silver by
Dave Ryman
Hi,
New to this group. We have a piece of silver which is quite clearly
hallmarked. From the net, we have established that it is 92.5% silver, made
in London in 1985.
However, there doesn't appear to be a list of maker's marks on the
Internet, and we don't have a book listing them - this is the...

making a flower by chasing, or other NONcasting methods. by
Des Bromilow
G'Day,
I'm hoping someone has made a flower (preferably a rose, or a lily) by using
sheet metal, and chasing or repousse methods.
I am planning on building one in the next month, and planned on making the
stem from Silver, and the head from gold (9ct) in the case of a rose, or the
head in Silver,...

Making a Neck Ring/ Choker by
Hello
I want to make a neck ring/choker
I have made no jewellery before and this is a one off.
Where do I buy an 18" length of thin silver bar/wire from in the UK?
How do I get a good circle?
Is the best join the ends bent into small hooks?

Making a White Gold Ring by
Kendall Davies
I have the opportunity of making a white gold wedding ring for a man getting
married in 6 weeks. He wants a brushed finish to the ring. Since I have not
used white gold before (I work almost exclusively with silver) I feel a bit
apprehensive. Comments and advice would be very much...

Making creepy metal things? by
Devonshire
Hi,
Today I found a box of 16 old aluminum Creepy Crawler molds
that I forgot I had. I was wondering if anyone has used these
molds for materials other than the goop that they were intended
for. I've read that lead bullets can be cast in an aluminum mold.
I wonder if another metal with a...

Hi, I just joined the group. I am so interested in making sterling
silver jewelry and would like to know if anyone knows a school/
organization on Long Island, NY that teaches metalsmithing. I would
like perhaps an adult education course or a low cost part time/1Xweek
program. I would really...

Making necklaces from .9999 gold grams by
[email protected]
Hello there,
I have some .9999 gold grams (small 1 gram bullion bars), and I would
like to make necklaces from them.
What would be the best way to do this?
Any hints/tips would be great.
For instance, could I get the materials from a craft store?

Making safe alloys by

After much helpfull advice and reading other posts I've been using a
copper/silver alloy for casting small items recently.
To keep the cost down I use abot 90% copper (scrap electrical wire) and
10% pure silver (a bar of bullion bought from ebay).
I am trying to keep a non-toxic work enviroment ...

Making Wire by

What a fun learning experience! Right up there with learning to fly.

from what I received from Rio in the same shipment as the drawplate.
I made some serious modifications to a JSP MALTMILL and with the helpful
advice...

Malachite shine by
Mr. Vega
Hi there --I bought a Malachite ring over the internet and it doesn't
look particularly shiny. I find that rubbing it on my skin, makes it
look shiny for about 5 hours from the natural oils, but I've heard
that this may impact the appearance of the stone by making the bands
disappear over...
