Sewing a silk garment. by [email protected]
I'm sorry if these sound like dumb questions but I'm an old man. :-) What kind of thread should I use to sew buttons on a silk shirt? What kind of thread should I use to hem up silk pajama legs with a sewing machine? Your help will be appreciated. Lewis.

I am putting together some sewing boxes for a few of the 20-30 somethings on my list. It seems there's always talk among my sons group that finding a needle to sew on a button or make a quick fix is a problem. I have some of those little metal lunch boxes and I'm going to put the stuff in those....

Sewing box is complete! by Valkyrie
The sewing kits are assembled, wrapped, ribboned and ready for Christmas Eve. I found boxes of assorted spools of thread, just a bit smaller than a regular small spool. They were at the Big Lots store. Nice assortments with twelve spools in each box, a "light", has white and a "dark", has black....

Sewing buddies in London by laurie
I am returning to sewing after many years. I was looking for a class to refresh my skills. I cannot find anything locally. I can revise my skills using books and memory but miss the sharing of ideas that I used to get from a class. I used to make a lot of my daughters clothes when she was small....

Sewing Business (The Book) by Joy Hardie
O.K....I am in hot water again with my husband. He is never happy with me and my informal business practices. He never thinks I charge enough...too many hours of labor not enough income and so on. I remember a while back that there was a discussion about some book on the subject specifically of...

Sewing classes in Los Angeles by Ellen M.
Hello, Does anyone know where in L.A. I can find a reasonably priced place to learn the basics of sewing? I have an old Singer machine, about 15 years old or so, and I think it's fine for just basic stuff. Thanks for your help, Ellen

Sewing Eye Dog by [email protected]
I think I need one..or soon will, at the rate at which I am deteriorating. Last week, I stuck my finger in my eye and broke a blood vessel. Everyone would look at me, tear up in sympathy, then I'd have to fetch them a tissue. This is not a good pity gig. Sun. night, my contact lens slid into the...

Sewing fleece by QuilterD
Hello all, I've been lurking for a little while here. I don't do too much sewing other than quilts, but very occasionally do some 'home sewing' - curtain toppers, etc. When my daughter was young I sewed a lot of her clothes. She's grown & married now. I'd like to make a couple of small fleece...
