The Art of Buying Lingerie
http://www.yourlingerieoutlet.com/catalog/art-buying-lingerie.php
Since most women wear thongs, you're not asking her to try anything
radical. Fashion stylist and lingerie savant Mary Alice Stephenson
suggests "finding a smaller strip that runs down her butt, which...

The Happy Hooker/ long by
[email protected]
Here it is, mend it/fix it time again. This week's theme: 'A Stitch in
Time Saves Nine'.
I'm not sure what 'Nine' are referred to; it sure ain't nine minutes;
as you will see, this is self-explanatory.
The odd repair I describe today is the mend of a nice, thick fringed
rug. As well as...

THE NEW YORK TIMES NEEDS YOUR HELP! by
Marc Weingarten
Hi everyone,
I'm a writer for the New York Times who is currently researching a
story about high-tech sewing machines like Pfaff, and I was wondering
if there were any Pfaff users out there - or users of any of other
high-end machines - that would be willing to talk to me about their
experience...

The resurgence of the Crazy Quilt by
Bettie Simpson.
The topic of this post is Crazy Quilting, which is a type of
needlework that was popular in the Victorian era and has been gaining
in popularity since a resurgence of the craft in the 70's. Crazy
Quilting consists of irregularly shaped patches of fabric which are
sewn to a backing fabric. The...

The Tailor's 'S' by
Bloddy
Can anybody help?
I'm looking for information on the sewing geometry of the Tailor's 'S'. As I
understand it, it's a method of stitching material that produces a neat turn
around a right angled bend instead of leaving a fold of unwanted material.
TIA.

Thimbals by
[email protected]
When I ordered a thimbal from Atlanta Thread, I was asked
"with open or closed end". Not knowing what on earth one
would want with an open ended thimbal, I was told that they
are the choice of tailors.
I bought one of each and am still clueless.

Third time is the Charm...Machine Fatigue? Ron? by
[email protected]
I'm trying to get going on a quilt promised to Gbebe. Last quilt I
did, after five hours straight of random quilting on the quilt top, my
machine began showing signs of stress. Stitches got shorter, and seemed
to slow--although that may have been me slowing-- anyway, after a rest,
the stitching was...

Thoughts on arrival of new machines by
Valkyrie
As I have been reading the NGs having to do with sewing a thought all of a
sudden occurred to me. The decisions involved, waiting for and arrival of
new machines (often referred to as my/our baby) is much like that of the
arrival of a much anticipated child. I know writing out that check after...

Thread - quick question by
DKiely33
I read in one of my sewing books that 100% cotton thread is not good for use on
very stretchy fabric (knits, lycra, etc.) because there is not much give and
the stitches can pop and break.
Is this true? Is 100% polyester thread the best choice for stretchy fabrics?
Thanks in advance,
Dee

Just ordered yummy velvet burnouts from equilter to make Christmas present
