Stabilizing buttonholes in bias top by
Franfogel
I recently made a jumper where I cut the bodice on the bias to better utilize
the stripe in the material. I then made buttonholes in the front of the jumper
and the ones on the bias part became stretchy. What would you experts suggest
to stabilize buttonholes on bias fabrics? Also, when lining a...

Pat
Hi all,
I'm thinking about starting a fabric discount store in a well
populated area of the East Coast. There is really only one other store
that caters to discounted fabrics and that accounts for only 25% of
the store's revenue.
The closest discount fabric store is about 1.5 hours away and I...

I'm in Melbourne, Australia, and two weeks ago I put a $50 deposit on
"lay-by" for a brand new Janome sewing machine, from STATEWIDE SEWING

My Mother-In-Law learned that I wanted a sewing machine, so she insisted on
giving me hers which she doesn't use.
So, I went to Statewide Sewing to...

Step 1 by
Atom1
I thought I'd share my transgression.
Step 1: Admitting there's a problem (defeating the denial)
I order lots of fabrics via internet- I have more than enough for the
hereafter.
I currently am on a serious fabric diet. I have squished myself right out
of my sewing room- my DH reminds me of this...

Stitch Witchery REMOVAL by
gouda
Help! I used Stitch Witchery to add a border on a skirt, which I have
subsequently removed from the skirt. The inside hem now has leftover
Stitch Witchery all over it, which has generated giant snags in my
brand new pantyhose!
How on earth do I remove this stuff???
Thanks!

Straighten ends, hem all raw edges by

There should be a number of people who got sewing machines
for Christmas joining the list along about now, so perhaps
it's a good time to post last summer's musings about very
simple projects.
There's a chart of square and rectangular garments below the
second row of...

strange thread tension problem by

Hi everyone
I have Brother PS-31 sewing machine and I've been having weird lower
thread tension problems. The problem only seems to occur with straight
stitch or that's where it's most visible. I can never get the bobbin
thread tension right, it's either too strong or too weak. I've tried
to...

Hi.
I'm doing some tapestry work that when finished, I would like to fix and
display on stretchers. The stretchers I have in mind are composed of two
wooden frames, one to fit inside the other and the material to be caught
between the two frames then stapled to the back of the smaller frame. I...

Stubby screwdriver by

I've been breaking needles and creating bird's nests under the needle plate.
It takes me a while to unscrew the needleplate with the supplied flat Singer
screwdriver. Has anyone found a driver short enough to fit under the
housing that you can spin instead of having to change your grip?
