last-minute project by
Susan Hartman
Yesterday morning, DS's signicant other sent me a link in an email
titled "If ever there were a cross-stitch project for me," just sharing
a joke. (She's not a stitcher, but she's a crafty in other *good* ways,
LOL!) It was a bookmark that said, "F*** Off, I'm Reading", so for a
last-minute gift I...

Maryland State Fair Happy Dance! by
Susan Hartman
I got three ribbons! Two second-place ones and a fifth-place. The
fifth-place was in special category: Christmas ornaments; I don't thing
regular categories go "down" that far.
I'll try to get photos soon on my r.c.t.n.p. Not there yet - I'll have
to borrow DD's camera.

If your DD liked that poster, she might also be amused by this:
http://www.nostalgicneedledesigns.com/nostalgicneedledesigns2007jan_103.htm
It was love at first sight for me, and I shared it with DD, who said "It
would make a really neat ornament without too much tweaking (hint, hint)."

soliciting advice on light effects by
Susan Hartman
What has been your experience with Light Effects floss? I just saw an
adorable fairy pattern and thought about doing it for DN for Christmas.
It has lots of beads, but I'd put it in a pillow and substitute knots
for the beads. Thought that doing them in Light Effects would be neat -
a little...

It all comes 'round again.. by
Susan Hartman
The church I used to belong to 20-30 years ago closed down, and there
were two Hardanger pieces I'd made for them that were offered to me for
my current church. Well, the pastor and head of the altar guild were
*thrilled* to get them, and I just spent an hour with them trying
ifferent...

Happy dancing into a frenzy....(it was providential) by
Susan Hartman
Remember how I just said I'd come to peace with not rushing my "And a
Forest Grew" and decided to forgo this year's state fair and wait until
next year? I was doing a normal Happy Dance because I finished it on
Friday night and left it at the LNS on Saturday night.
Well, imagine my surprise...

calendar for 2006 by
Susan Hartman
I remembered a needlework calendar that I downloaded last year, and
found the new version for 2006 (www.goldenkite.com). I'm printing it out
so I can keep track of my rotation, and maybe set goals (like writing on
a particular weekend, "finish XXX UFO." We'll see if that helps me stay
"on task" and...

On topic: amazing video by

I was browsing online and was led to the Victoria and Albert website,
and while looking the articles on it I found this video:

I hope it works for you.
I'd seen this casket in Piecework magazine a year or two ago, but the

Batlimore Album Quilts by

I may have posted this a year or two ago, but can't remember!
Anyway, I was poking around the Maryland Historical Society website, and
came across their online exhibit about Baltimore album quilts. I was
fortunate to have seen this exhibit in person a few years back, but I'm
glad to see they've...

another delightful Sunday afternoon by
Susan Hartman
There's something about live music and stitching...I've sometimes
remarked that a perfect afternoon is sitting outside at a music
festival, stitching in the natural light and hearing live music.
Well, yesterday was a variation on that theme. The church down the road
has a free Sunday afternoon...

Christmas Ornament Issue by
Susan Hartman
I picked up my copy last weekend. It's interesting to see how ideas
switch from year to year...sometimes it seems like designers' minds
collectively move in one direction, just coincidentally.
This year there are only two overtly religious-themed ornaments - the
one by Shepherd's Bush, "Sweet...
