Custom Prices by
glassman
For those of you out there that actually make some money from this silly
craft, I want to know how all these price increases have afftected your
square foot pricing for commission work? Lead was about $45 a case for
years, now triple or more. Solder was $2/lb for 20 years, now quadrupled.
Let's...

Sharing Space by
glassman
In my ongoing story of trying to sell my place, this is the latest. My
buyer is still waiting for a financial deal to free up his downpayment money
so we can close. In the meantime I rented him the back room, and access to
the rest of my shop. Can you imagine what it's like for 2 SG...

Grinder Problems by
Michael[_2_]
When I first got my new grinder I was thrilled with it, but I've been
having problems recently and I'm thinking about sending it back to the
manufacturer. Yesterday I spent almost 20 minutes grinding on a piece
and it was still too small.

Shift to fusing by
Michael[_2_]
I don't remember what the thread was, but someone mentioned that
traditional leaded glass work appears to be in decline with a growing
popularity in baking it. I got a Bullseye catalog today in the mail
and the truth in that statement is verified by the emphasis in their
catalog. Shake and...

Ever Have to Move Your Glass Shop? by
glassman
If not, you have no idea what you're in for. Worse than a root canal.
I moved 7 years ago from a small shop to a much bigger space only a few
blocks away, and it took me weeks.
I decided to let my buyer move into my back room to work, and we'll
share the space while we wait for his...

Worden and Odyssey Lamps by
Michael[_2_]
I'm wanting to build a Tiffany lamp. I've noticed that Worden and
Odyssey are two of the major players. I would appreciate any feedback
you might have on the quality of the forms and patterns provided by
the two companies.

3d design software for tiffany lamps by
[email protected]
Anyone here that uses computer software for designing tiffany lamps in
3D perspective? I'm not talking about lamps with flat panels, because
I can use Dragonfly's Glass Eye for that. I'm talking about the more
spherical (half ball) shaped lamps.
I'd like to design a lamp in 3D and them map the...

Dead Suppliers by
glassman
So I'm cleaning out my file cabinets in prep for leaving. I came across
too many out of business suppliers to name. Seems like everyone was a
wholesaler/distributor. From Peter Nervo to Bienenfeld. Geez at one point
there were 4 companies making only framing stock. Several selling brass...
