OT - Only a quilter.... by
Jo in Scotland
Only a Quilter by Tom and Madge Powis...June 2003
We've all heard the classic line that only a quilter would take yards
and yards of material, cut it into little pieces and then sew them back
together again. While this statement is true and a little funny to
think about, it doesn't even scratch...

Alaska by
Kathy
What part of Alaska will you be going to? It does make a difference on
what you would pack. Also, what time of the month will you be here? I
am in Anchorage and July/August has been quite rainy. I would say to
be on the safe side to pack COMFORTABLE shoes (definately not new)
long sleeved tee-shirt...

any tips? reverse applique by
Kellie J. Berger
I have gone to several websites and think i have a handle on how to do this,
but i'm wondering if anyone has "perfected" the technique and has any tips
on how to get pointier points or make it go easier/more quickly or what to
avoid? Most of them said to practice with a heart... I may do that...

Rotary cutters- - Which are best? by
WInomad
Hi,
I'm in the process of starting my first quilt and would like to buy a
rotary cutter. Which is the best brand and what size do I need? I'm
collecting wool fabric to make a pieced wool crazy quilt and thought a
rotary cutter would make cutting all the fabric pieces much easier. Any
advice...

advice needed on which is the best bargain! by
Morag Peers
Hi all,
I have been browsing on Ebay for some fabric and have come across two lots
which interest me. I can only really justify buying one, so I need to know
which would be the best bargain!
The first is for 25 fat quarters, all different.
The second is for 1kg (2.2lbs) of scraps, 50+ different...

foundation piecing by hand? by
Ann Pillman
Hi everyone,
I am new to quilting and foundation piecing. Is it OK to foundation
piece by hand rather than sewing the seams using a machine? I am looking
for ways to make my projects portable (something to do during endless
hours of waiting for kids at music lessons, sports, etc). (That's how...

Machine in the Repair Shop by
Jill Pochik
Well, my machine is in the shop for some big repairs. Some of the parts
are still under warrenty, so that's a help with the cost. I guess I've
worked it too hard over the last year.
Right now, I'm trying to use my MIL's 40 plus year old Kenmore and it
sure makes me miss my machine. Well at least I...

Double needle problems by

I've been trying to get my machine to stitch with my new

Why do they tell you to do this? by
Mosiacquilter
Ladies, I'm a slow, new-to-machinequilting quilter and have been lurking for
some time now. It's given me a lot of respect for your collective wisdom.
Please can you help ?
My problem; I've found a wall-hanging in the Kathleen Guerrier Little Book
of Little Quilts which I'd like to make, ( the...

ish by
Neeej
I just ran a test on those '-ISH' pencils---marked all 3 colors on white,
yellow, red, green & nearly-black scraps, then washed 'em. I could still see
the marks on the white & yellow, not on the others. Be appropriately warned.

Big Horn Quilts by
Julia Altshuler
I know this is a funny question, but humor me. I'm not advertising.
Would someone go to Big Horn Quilts at www.bighornquilts.com and click
on ENTER THE FABRIC SHOP. In the upper right hand corner, there will be
a thumbnail with the word "Newest!" under it and under that a date.
What is that date?...

Did you know.... by
~K-K~
that when you take the skirt off a bed skirt, and iron it and lay it out
that you get a piece of fabric that is between 14-18 inches wide and 30 feet
long???????
Well now it is still 30 feet long but only 1.5 inches wide, and getting
ready to conform to a basket weave block :)

Batting by
Jill Pochik
I just received my lastest shipment of charity batting from Hobbs but it
didn't include any instructions, so I thought I'd ask all of you. The
batting is white in color but almost seems like fleece, no cush but
dense. How far apart does it need to be quilted??
Thanks!
