Lighting recommendation? by
S & A
Can anyone recommend a good light and bulb that will make stitching in the
evenings easier. I used to use an anglepoise light with a 'blue' daylight
bulb. I did find though that the bulb caused a yellowy shadow on my
material. In the daytime, my bedroom is the best place to stitch as it has
a...

Do I give in to temptation or not? by
fran
I was wandering through J.J.'s Collectibles website today, looking at
thier massive cross-stitch section (I swear they have every chart by
every designer that ever was - even more than Nordic Needle!) and saw
some absolutely lovely Art Deco inspired charts.
Now, do I start collecting yet more...

two years later - finished - yay by
val189
Although I did two other things 'tweentimes, I finally finished the
Monet "Field of Poppies" Glorafilia item I posted about back in May of
2002! Now, off to the framer and hope it doesn't break the bank.
I can't say I was thrilled tho with the Appleton wool in the kit - it
got very thin in places...

Questions About Hardanger by
Suzanne
It seems to me there was a thread a while back about pre-washing cross
stitch fabric, but I can't remember if anyone said what kinds of fabric
you should wash. If I'm going to be doing some hardanger work, should
I wash the fabric before stitching on it? As far as I know, hardanger
is supposed to...

Irish stitches? by
Jeanine3
I started MLI's Celtic Banner last year. I bought the prescribed
Glenshee linen (was lucky to get it as apparently there was a drought
for awhile) and did the border. Then I decided it wasn't Celtic enough
for me plus I wanted to do different stitches, sort of like a band
sampler. I took some...

Stardust Charts by
Monique Reed
Stardust has some beautiful designs. I really like their new "Smoky
Mountain Christmas," which shows Santa with a sleigh pulled by two
black bears. Santa wears a coat made from a log-cabin quilt.

Cording by
Suzanne
I'm looking at instructions for making a bellpull and it calls for
cording to put on the sides. This may be a silly question, but just
what kind of cording are they talking about? The instructions don't
say anything about the size or type. About the only time I've used
cording in a project, it...

There is a technique where one folds & cuts paper handkerchiefs as
decoration. In german it's called "serviettentechnik".
Does anybody what the actual technique in english is called and any

Knitting Reference Book by
Caryn
As there have been several knitting questions lately, I thought I would
recommend a really good knitting reference book.
*The Reader's Digest: Knitter's Handbook*
It contains no patterns for items, but does have the most comprehensive
collection of information on knitting that I have ever seen. ...
