Brother 2340CV vs. Babylock BLCS - Opinions? by
Christoph Brudy
I'm considering getting a coverstitch machine.
Can anyone comment on the relative merits (or deficiencies)
of the machines mentioned in the subject line?
TIA, Chris

Lining a lampshade by
Judy s
I have a cool lamp with a shade that needs the lining replaced. The old one
dried up and disintegrated near the narrower top part of the shade where it
was closer to the bulb.. What type of fabric is used for this? Does it need
to be heat resistant? I am now using those new cooler burning "curly"...

losing my sewing room by
Lisa
whaaaa!
I went from having a whole bedroom to the laundry room and now in a
few weeks we will move to a house with an even smaller laundry room.
(That's what happens when you have kids--they get the bedrooms!)
Anyway, my question is how to organize my stuff so that I can still
sew. I was thinking...

Pre-Quilted Doubled Faced Fabric by
sewirish1969
Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone knew of a place on-line that sold
pre-quilted doubled faced fabric. Similar to the fabric used in the
"Vera Bradley" bags.
Thanks in advance!

Australian Stitches magazine by
Melinda Meahan - take out TRASH to reply
My second-favorite sewing magazine (after Threads, of course) is
Australian Stitches. I finally had the chance to go back to the store
where I originally saw them a number of years ago and bought myself up a
bunch more. She still has tons left and people weren't buying them
because, she says, her...

Heavy fusible interface for making hand/tote bags. by
sewirish1969
Hi Everyone,
I'm looking to make a few hand/tote bags. I'm curious what's the
thickest type of fusible interface I should use? Also, for tote
bags...what's the best material to use... canvas...outdoor canvas?
Thanks in advance for any information or advice you can give me.

Crinkly stuff by
Paulette
Larisa gave me the idea to try cellophane (she did some web surfing and
found out that is what they use most frequently). I am going to try it in
my Curious George panel book and let you all know how it turns out.
Thanks!

Got a cheap pattern! by
Arri London
Our local (in ABQ) Hancock's fabrics is having a sale on Simplicity
patterns. They are *all* USD1.99.
Don't know if this is a chainwide thing or not though.
Not having bought a 'regular' pattern in years, I was shocked at the
double-digit prices! Whew!

Adventures in book reviewing by
joy beeson
One of the most-educational experiences in my sewing career
was drafting a sleeveless bodice from scratch, following
instructions in a book I found in the Indianapolis library.
I never followed up on it to make the rest of the sloper and
design my own dresses, but it broke me of being afraid...

help - pattern for floor length formal dress with short sleeves by
AnnP
Hi,
My daughter's high school band has decided that all the girls need to
wear black floor length gowns for their concerts -- short sleeves,
midway between shoulder and elbow. The neckline also must be discreet
(not plunging). (The boys get off easy by paying $50 to rent tuxes for
the year.)
I...
