Run-away-from-home / discussion topic by
Noreen's Knit*che
We're all *virtually* running-away-from-home (sometimes, wouldn't it
really be nice if we *could*??).... and there is one rule, you have one
destination.
So, where do YOU go, and what do you bring with you?
LOL
Hugs,
Noreen

Knitting Needle Storage - Notebook & Ziplok Bags by
Linda
I use a 3" notebook -- and gallon-sized Ziplok bags. I use a 3-hole
punch to put holes on one side of the bag -- then permanent black
marker to indicate the size needles that go into it. I normally use
circular needles -- but straight needles (as well as double points)
will usually fit in the...

hat sizing help by
bibe
I am knitting a ear flap hat for the bf. I made myself one a little while
back and it was too big, and he wants his 'just right' He says he wants it
to fit snug, but not stretch too much. He also wants it a bit pointy, and
not so much rounded like regular watch caps. Anyway, I don't need a
pattern,...

Purse Stitch by
Janise Ross
I was looking for a mindless pattern to use for a 6X6 yesterday, when I
thought I was going to be knitting in the ski lodge while waiting for DD#2
to run her races. I came across the "Purse Stitch" in the 365 Knitting
Stitches a Year Perpetual Calendar (thanks, Nora). If you have this book,
it is...

And we're off!!! by
The Other Kim
I got my yarn for my NYCO project yesterday. I located the appropriate
needles and got started this morning. I'm doing the pocket linings
first, since I know that if I started the actual sweater I'd set the
whole thing aside when I got to the pockets. I should be starting the
actual body of the...

Knitting Jargon by
Naveed
I looked around for a faq for this newsgroup but could not find one. Does
anyone know of a good source to learn all of the knitting jargon? I have
been reading through some of the old posts and realize that there is quite
a bit i am missing since i don't understand the shared vocabulary.

Katherine, I received your post with the 6x6 squares. Thanks for the extra's
although that wasn't necessary. Also the soap has a beautiful scent. Most of
all, thank you for the *gorgeous* scarf. It is truly beautiful! I have the
perfect outfit to wear it with! The book couldn't have come at a...

making swatches by
Kippany
I've been a beginner knitter for about 45 years--learned the basic knit and
purl but never went much further than than. However, the knitting bug has bit
and within the past few weeks I've used the garter stitch and the stockinette
to make a couple of scarves and a baby blanket. I need to build up...

Help - need a crochet hockey rink pattern by
QT-Pi
Hi everyone - I was hoping someone could help me find a pattern for a
crocheted hockey rink pattern. I found one on a site called Designs by JAMI
or something like that, but the pattern doesn't give very good instructions
:(
Alternatively I would be interested in where to find a book/website/etc...

Knitting Question by
Kathryn
So I think I got the purl stitch down, except that when I do only purl
stitches my swatch turns out exactly like I've been doing only knitting
stitches.
When I alternate purl rows with knit rows each side of the swatch looks
different (horizontal stitches on one side, "v" stitches on the other...

increasing by
Linda D.
Hi everyone,
This is going to sound like such a beginner knitting question, but
I've never run across this before.
I'm knitting a sweater using Shetland Style Chunky in gray and black.
I've just completed the ribbing and the pattern says to increase 6
stitches evenly across in the last row of...

The Island of the knitting men by
Sew-Sew Lady
It must still be a little early...the first thing that popped into my head
was an image of a SMURF...(www.smurf.com) I think I will look up the
magazine or the island on the web, maybe they will have a photo so I can
stopped imagining smurfs.
Just read an article in "Masa Aher " the Hebrew...

best way to count rows? by
Linda D.
Hi everyone,
I'm knitting a raglan sleeve pullover with a split turtleneck,
and using Shetland Style Chunky yarn in black and gray. All is going
well, but I'm now at a point where I'm decreasing for the sleeves and
it's a 4 row section that I have to knit 7 times. How the heck do you
gals keep...

Newbie Introduction by

Hi all!
I've been lurking for a while and thought I'd introduce myself so I'll feel
more comfortable asking questions later on! ;-)
I've been crocheting for about a month...I've only made scarves so far, and
I have only used three different stitches: single, half-double, and double
(VERY...

Lacy Rib in the round by
Slinky
I've been using this easy pattern obsessively to make scarves.
Several days ago I recommended it as an open stitch to use to make a
hat. If you want to knit the thing flat the pattern as I gave it
works just fine. Add two selvedge stitches and you'll be able to sew
up the hat with no problem.
On...
